If the US wanted to be more like Canada, we would not have fought the Revolutionary War.
That's kind of a strange assertion, because the Revolutionary War occurred nearly 100 years before the nation of Canada existed. How can you say Nation X could have wanted to be like Nation Y 100 years before they had any idea what Nation Y was going to be like?

If the US was more like Western Europe, who would have defeated Hitler?
Yet another strange statement. Other Western European nations fought against Hitler. What does that have to do with anything?

I was simply pointing out that the US is NOT Canada or Western Europe. Sorry that thought is lost on you.
