My daughter's girliness and emotional state scares the living hell out of me. I was hoping she would be a bit more independent and logical. (No not a guy but she seems to be taking a very traditional path) I am scared she will be overly dependent upon the men in her life. I have tried to gently push her. It just wont work. I am not going to damage her by trying to make her into someone she is not.
I have a cousin who raised her two girls gender neutral, in as much as she didn't differentiate which toys and books were forced on them at a young age ie the usual dollies and princess stuff girls are presumed to want. She gave them 'boys' toys and books as well.
The two girls are about 10 and 12 now and are both clearly 'girly' girls, and amazingly neither of them are have mental disorders , they are just normal well - balanced kids.
They're both growing up to be very conventional personalities, despite their parents slightly unconventional outlook on life.
I don't even know why this is a news story, to be honest.
This is ridiculous but if they aren't doing anything physical to the kids like with hormones or surgeries then it will also thankfully probably be for naught and these kids will grow up to be what they want to be. You can't really dictate how people raise their own kids. Do you want people to make laws mandating kids are raised with a certain religion, or with no religion at all? Parents have to make those decisions. Sometimes it isn't fair to the kids if they have parents who are nuts but life isn't fair.
I'm wondering why there's a push to raise children and to have adults without any identity. No gender identity, no sexual identity, no racial identity, no ethnic or religious identity, no cultural identity and no nationality.
You can say its to promote equality to promote individuality but its actually doing the opposite. How can a person celebrate their individuality if they're forced to be the same as everybody else and any distinctiveness is frowned upon?
We're becoming drones seperated into class systems. Workers, the masses, the Elite at the top. It won't be long until they get rid of the masses if they don't contribute.
It's really really hard in this society to raise your kid gender neutral. Obviously, at a certain age your kid will be old enough to choose toys and clothes for themselves but this is after years of you doing it for them. What toys do you buy that are gender neutral? Or even clothes (often girls clothes are pink, and boys clothes are blue). There are so many aspects that society is forcing us to make our kids live predetermined gender stereotypes.
I don't think it's a big deal, but this article did get me thinking.
