George Orwell, who wrote 1984, would be tickled. Much of what he wrote about has come about.
Politics?
NO! Football!
Controversial? YES!
Ole Miss Football. Over a period of years, coaches and boosters provided cars and free lodging and so forth to student athletes. Here's what you need to know:
The allegations. Read the details here, in the official complaint. It's pretty straightforward.
The players:
Laremy Tunsil. He now plays professionally, making 1.5M/year.
Benito Jones. He will enter the 2019 draft.
There were other players, too.
The punishment!
33 wins have been
vacated. They never happened! GONE! That oughta teach Ole Miss a thing or two. Of course, vacating the 'wins' will not change the record to a 'loss', since that didn't happen either. So the games have simply been placed in Orwell's memory hole. Or something. They never happened. The goal post was never torn down, people did not scream their heads off, and the offending players have not gone on to make millions.

If politics doesn't make you crazy, perhaps this will. Or maybe - perish the thought - you think this all makes sense.
For those who may ask: ...... No. This is not important, at least not to me. But it is hysterically funny. To me. And I hope it is to you.
