Mayor Bill de Blasio said Sunday that US Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was wrong to have claimed the collapse of the Amazon deal would free up $3 billion to fix the city’s subways and hire more teachers.

During an appearance on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” de Blasio agreed when host Chuck Todd said that the tax breaks offered to Amazon weren’t “money you had over here. And it was going over there.”

“Correct,” de Blasio said.

He added: “And that $3 billion that would go back in tax incentives was only after we were getting the jobs and getting the revenue.”

To further drive home the point, Todd said, “There’s not $3 billion in money —”

“There’s no money — right,” de Blasio said.

AOC either has a significantly below average IQ or she is a pathological liar that can't help but talk out of her rear end.

She studied economics in college and continually shows she has no clue on basic economics. How did she graduate?

They are as wrong. They were tax breaks and other incentives. As an example, the half a billion noted above.

I usually agree with you. However Amazon was socialism for the rich. Manhattan is a hotbed of hi-tech, without any subsidies. Similarly Cornell and the Technion are building massively on Roosevelt Island with no help except permits.

Do you like Trump? You must because AOC and the far left of the Democratic party are going to hand Trump the 2020 election on a silver platter if centrist Democrats don't rein them in.

Hillary was NOT the far left and she gave the election to Trump. Will I be surprised if it happens again? No. I do not pick positions based upon who is or isn't president.

I should be for something I have long argued against because of who else is arguing it?

No they don't. The LIC region will remain undeveloped, generating very little tax revenue, very few jobs.

AMZ will do the same work in more welcoming business environments.

Nowhere near this scale. AMZ HQ2 was a golden opportunity, especially for the location picked which is hardly flourishing.

I am even more worried for the message it sends to others considering NYC.

Exactly true. Long Island City has been a sump pit for at least 50 years. Amazon would have transformed it completely to a desirable upscale and beautiful area. All kinds of new development would have followed Amazon in. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez just took a whole big boatload of virtue and success and lit a fire to it. She, and her ilk, are a destructive and negative force, and I hope we can reverse her mentality and the evil behind it.

She had nothing to do with what happened.

Yes, she did. Let's say she aided in community organizing. She was the highest ranking government official who was out front against Amazon setting up camp there.
