Amazon credits their decision to the Progressive New York Politicians. Congrats
Amazon.com Inc. is abandoning its plans to build a new headquarters in New York City after the company faced stiff resistance from some local politicians who objected to giving one of the world’s most valuable companies billions of dollars in tax incentives.
The company said in a blog post Thursday that its commitment to a new headquarters required supportive elected officials and collaboration.
“While polls show that 70% of New Yorkers support our plans and investment, a number of state and local politicians have made it clear that they oppose our presence and will not work with us to build the type of relationships that are required to go forward with the project we and many others envisioned in Long Island City,” the company said.
You fool. You bought into the liberal media talking points hook line and sinker. This project would have brought double the jobs to the region in Construction, materials and area revitalization. Billions of dollars in revenue for the city. State and earned money bybwaybof jobs just went poof. $3 billion to get them to come here which would have allowed the city and state to break even within 3 to 5 years. This is an unmitigated disaster that was brought to by Democrats that actually thought hey maybe after years of telling people we are going to give them free stuff so they dont have to work but at the same time tell them we will bring you good paying jobs too so you can work completely back fired on them and ultimately was undone by the same radical policies they have been pushing that make no sense for anyone
Are you serious? This is NYC we're talking about. The infrastructure, population density, and economy are already off the charts as it is. It's not like it's some sleepy Houston suburb that needs revival
good thing Cortez is gonna give everyone free housing, food, medical, etc, etc., and retrofit-rebuild every structure. NYC gonna need that when she eliminates planes and fossil fuels.

Win for most everyone. NY liberals apparently didn't want a "working class" company like Amazon there, just bankers and lawyers. And NYC is a horrible place to have to live or work. Crowded, horrid traffic and parking, crappy weather, insanely expensive business and residential real estate, most taxed state in the nation. Win for Amazon employees that won't be required to live in the Rotten Apple.
Workers will likely see the equivalent to a 20% wage increase (due to taxation/col) if they move to a nicer, smaller city in an area with better weather. And the company will save massively.
I have to wonder if Bezos wasn't just playing with Cuomo and NYC in the first place-it doesn't make sense as a location to move a business to.
1. So techies are suddenly "working class?" Techies are no more "working class" than the bankers and lawyers you just ridiculed.
2. The traffic and housing prices around DC are almost as bad as in NYC. Might even be worse.
3. Weather in DC isn't much different than NYC, just a bit warmer.
