For example, one thing that escapes me why insulin is so expensive. (no, I am not diabetic). This is something people will die without. A good social program would be for our government oversee it sold at cost. Life or death should not be for profit.

I'm sure there are more and better ideas but we shouldn't dismiss social programs because we've been programmed to think its a bad word.
Since the days of the new deal we have had business types continuously bad moth socialism and its step-cousin the dreaded communism

the result is we have as a nation a children's viewpoint on many issues that the rest of the world has done a great deal to solve....my favorite is that Ann Coulter who rants on about repealing the new deal and joe McCarthy was a good man and oh yea build that wall

before the republicans started this trickle down economy a person could get a college education reasonably...those cost have all been passed on to the consumer and college loans may just be the tipping point for many younger people to vote out much of this trickle-down junk

Like a wall, for instance. Totally Socialist undertaking at taxpayer expense. Let those who want a wall pay for it.

What would cost be? Who will produce something without profit? How will it be determined how much to make?
Why would anyone bother to develop something if the govt is going to limit them?
Read up on the famines of the USSR and China that resulted when govt committees tried to manage farming.

Weren't you just complaining about how much you had to pay in taxes?

And here you are, asking to pay more in taxes?

I was just watching Mike Rowe on tv a few nights ago. He did an entire segment about how there are thousands of blue collar jobs available and not enough of the younger generation garner enough interest to fill the jobs.

This country needs to invest in local vocation schools that teach kids how to roll up their sleeves and get to work! This way, this once fine country is not as reliant on socialistic measures to get by.

Socialism will implode without a huge influx of OPM. Why? Because in it's current stage there are many more "takers" than "givers." Socialistic programs only stand a fighting chance of succeeding when there are more "givers" than "takers" in the system. This country is not at the point at the moment.

Let's find a way to get the young folks working! Mike Rowe is pointing his index finger at the problem. Jobs aplenty exist. Socialism is a way for the other guy to pay your bills. Let's eliminate this thought process and find a way to pull ourselves up by our own INDIVIDUAL boot straps....
