This country needs to invest in local vocation schools that teach kids how to roll up their sleeves and get to work! This way, this once fine country is not as reliant on socialistic measures to get by.

Socialism will implode without a huge influx of OPM. Why? Because in it's current stage there are many more "takers" than "givers." Socialistic programs only stand a fighting chance of succeeding when there are more "givers" than "takers" in the system. This country is not at the point at the moment.

Let's find a way to get the young folks working! Mike Rowe is pointing his index finger at the problem. Jobs aplenty exist. Socialism is a way for the other guy to pay your bills. Let's eliminate this thought process and find a way to pull ourselves up by our own INDIVIDUAL boot straps....
Most jobs don't pay people enough money to weather major medical bills.....

Rowe was talking about a young kid just starting out as a plumber. He was pulling in 10K a month after 3 years on the job.

I have a client who is an exec at Cummins Diesel who said the same thing. Do some grunt work in the Diesel Mechanic industry for a few years and then you are set.

Pick a career! Elevator mechanic, pipe fitter, HVAC, welder, UPS driver, carpenter, electrician etc. Will you be rich? Nope but you'll make decent pay with beneys. Decent jobs are out there.

Only the most clueless of history would think it's a good idea to return to such nonsense.
Funny the right wingers always bring up Venezuela as what will happen if socialism is allowed. They simultaneously ignore Canada, Denmark, New Zealand, etc, all successful countries in great shape.

You won't have $100,000+ in your bank account either. I'm a truck driver, soon to be teamster, and make good money, but wouldn't be able to weather a manor financial medical emergency either, get real

You have to pretty much be a business owner to weather major medical bills without hardship in our for profit system

Another answer: they paid into a system and now they want it back. But for myself, I am not part of that Ponzi scheme and don’t pay into SS.

That poster once claimed to be an engineer working for Warren Buffet's BNSF and as such he doesn't have to worry because as a member of one of the largest unions in the U.S. (a socialist collective ) his medical benefits are comprehensive and fully PAID FOR!

If he's to be believed about his employment, all that talk about how he looks after himself is just bushwah. A collective is looking after his welfare for him. Fancy that...a hypocrite. Whodda guessed.

Incorrect. You don't get Social Security unless you paid into it. But yes, FDR was a closet socialist. He seized everyone's gold coinage, replaced it with fiat FRNs, then promptly devalued it 50%. That's how he paid for his social programs. Cost us another 7 years of economic depression.
