It has taken far more lives than all people any illegal aliens have killed or hurt.

So if Trump can go around Congress for the wall, get ready for the next D president to go full force on confronting the national epidemic of gun violence.

I didn’t want an expansion of executive power, but you cons seem ok with it to further your pet projects. You’ll have to bear that position in mind when the shoe is on the other foot.

What epidemic ? Firearms violence has been on the decline. If you are talking about the stuff that happens in the inner cities, hell yeah , let's get that taken care of. How do you propose getting the guns from the criminals ?
As far as the law abiding firearms owners, we are protected by the Second Amendment. Good luck trying to go after that.

There would be a shortage of coffins for years. I encourage the Left to try it.

What emergency? Illiegal immigration is declining. Crime rate is low. We’re in a good economy with near full employment.

The President has great latitude on national security. Most anything domestic requires Congress.

Sounds like a good Leftist Campaign slogan to me.

“vote for Democrats, we will declare a National Emergency and take your Guns.
That 2nd Amendment thingy in the Constitution- we are shredding that sucker”.

Nancy laid it all out ... plans are in the works now. She was clear about that.
Stick a Fork in our Constitutional Republic.

In other words- “if you secure the border, we’re taking away your 2nd amendment”. How does it feel to be such an ass?

It's hard to disagree that too many people die of gun violence, suicides, accidental shootings, etc.
Compared to our peers, the US has rates of violence that should embarrass and shame anyone with a conscious.

The question to the OP is: What exactly would you propose doing to solve the national epidemic of gun violence?

Warning!- Certain hardcore gun lovers on this forum tend to get riled up, delusional & paranoid (edit: I see this is already happening) if someone says anything other than guns should be the value we hold above all other values.

But it would at least be good to hear what you're talking about before people assume the worst (though some will do that anyway).

If you are honest...you will admit that Democrats are generally fine with expanding executive powers when it is their guy doing it too. This hypocrisy isn't unique to one party.

You do have a point to be made about each president pushing it further and the next Democrat president will do things that Republicans don't like.

I heard in passing on the news that Trump's advisors were trying to talk him out of declaring an emergency for exactly that reason - it opens the door for Dems to do the same.
