SO true. The Left and Right have been kicking this illegal immigration can down the road for too long. Paul Ryan was too weak to tackle it so it was put on the back burner and now that the Dems own the House they are blocking it like they are traitors to America.

There is nothing more basic than protecting our country from people that want to take advantage of it and our gullible generosity but the politicians don't care. This problem is a great talking point and talking points that are as charged and divisive as this one are great money makers and vote getters.

I think we all know what is coming down the road when the Dems get back in power and that is amnesty for approx. 20 million illegal aliens now in the country. The Dems will be pushing for amnesty and they will throw the Reps a bone by promising to reinforce the border so no more "migrants" will sneak in.

If the wall gets built where needed even then is a big question mark.

I wonder if we will look back on this border problem 20 years from now and admit that Trump was right?

Soooooooooo Republicans, where does all this poppycock come from that Democrats are the party of open borders when Trump doesn’t even believe that. His own right hand man just said what the administration REALLY believes.

So, explain right wingers. And don’t say that Bush wasn’t a real Republican either because you were defending him to the hilt when he was the president.

Ironic that you are not worried about another victims group coming into America and taking your spot on the dole.

So where does it come from that Democrats are the party of open borders? The Trump Administration doesn’t believe that because their own senior advisor just said so.

Well for starters, you're referring to Bush admin which was 10 years ago.

Secondly, it's the democrats (many prominent ones) calling for the abolition of ICE, having sanctuary cities etc.

I mean come on, let's not be coy here. It's hyperbole. Republicans are all racist haters of minorities and want to keep them out and Democrats want completely open borders. Neither is truthful, it's propaganda and exaggeration.

This thread ain’t aboit both parties.

Trump’s mouthpiece just blamed it on the Republicans.

Are you some sort of racist redneck? You sound like one.

But you were a fan back then. Don’t change up now.

Barry’s actions? Trump’s mouthpiece just said that Bush screwed up border security. He didn’t mention Obama.

They didn’t desert the party. They all voted for McCain.

So nah...don’t even try it.

That is why Trump must initiate action that has been neglected for decades. The only issue now is that libs are openly opposing such moves to keep the borders open.
Trump’s advisor said nothing about “no one.” He said EXPLICITLY that the Bush Administration screwed it up.

Stop trying to make this about both parties. It’s not.

Those pro-corporate policies were long-standing and bi-partisan so frankly, it's not a stunning admission at all to most people unless they're hopelessly partisan fringe and thus cannot admit to anything that could be perceived as negative. I've been mentioning both parties culpability around here for years before Trump.

It was a major political schism where longtime D safe havens like blue collar workers jumped ship so they got labeled racist deplorables for doing so.

P.S. I'm not commenting on the results of that 2016 decision, just the pre-history that lead up to what was essentially a "peasant revolt" of sorts at the ballot box.
Okay. If that’s how you see it.

Maybe not racist haters of “minorities.” Definitely haters of African Americans though.

But that’s another thread.

Neither party has a good solution to illegal immigration, but in my opinion they need to do more to solve the problems in Central America. There is no perfect solution to illegal immigration but Trump sold the wall in his election theme song. He has taken a more aggressive stance but neither party wants to cut off immigration completely for many reason.

For Republicans, it’s cheap labor.
