I’ll post a link, but he told Chris Wallace today that under Bush, illegal immigration went up from 6 million to 12 million and that Bush (and of course by extension the Republican Party) did nothing to protect the border.

Soooooooooo Republicans, where does all this poppycock come from that Democrats are the party of open borders when Trump doesn’t even believe that. His own right hand man just said what the administration REALLY believes.

So, explain right wingers. And don’t say that Bush wasn’t a real Republican either because you were defending him to the hilt when he was the president.

No party has made an effort to resolve this issue. Not the Republicans or the Democrats! There was a lot of talk and no action!

Not sure how you extrapolated from Bush to Trump...

Trump obviously cares... the GOP Congress is hit or miss on border issues.

Yeah.

Until recently both parties were against illegal immigration and then Trump came on the scene and suddenly the Dems are staunchly opposed to protecting the border with some fools calling for the wall that is there to be torn down while others want ICE disbanded. In the meantime the REPs remain their old wishy washy selves too afraid that they might lose donations and the next election if they take a stand.

There is good money and votes to be made in the churning of perpetual fear.

Of course he didn't. He wanted to find a way to give them work for the "jobs Americans won't do". He was just as bad as the rest of them when it came to immigration reform. Reagan had a crappy idea, Bush Sr had a crappy idea, and Bush Jr had a crappy idea. And the Dems, being who they are, went the opposite direction - and that was back when they supported the border wall, they supported deportations, they supported money to stop illegal aliens, and they called it a "crisis".

Now, suddenly, because Trump is saying exactly what the Dems said back then, he's a "dictator who is going against the Constitution".

The "poppycock" comes from the fact that the Dems will NEVER call out what their own side has done, even when people like Beto, for one recent example, have claimed they don't want borders.

Um, this is not news. Even people who liked W criticized his stance on immigration. I think that’s why Trump jumped out early in the primaries - he used immigration as his primary talking point and it resonated with Republican primary voters as it’s been a top issue but was ignored for years like with W.

Seriously. Trump doesn’t care about anything but his popularity
