Some interesting statistics and charts. I notice that one of the taunts Trump supporters post here is to mock something for being an opinion piece. They apparently don't notice - presumably don't bother to read - that they nevertheless contain facts. (Interestingly, again, Dem voters remain better educated.)

Trump Is Driving Out Precious Republican Voters
The young in particular are slipping away

By Sean McElwee, Brian F. Schaffner, Jesse H. Rhodes and Bernard L. Fraga

They [Republicans] lost the popular vote in six of the last seven presidential elections and suffered battering losses in the House in 2018. Republican strategists must grapple with how to keep their party viable nationally, and our data suggests that Trumpism may continue to hurt them in the future.... Republican House candidates performed worse among 18- to 39-year-olds than they have in decades. The voters Mr. Trump and his party lost in 2016 and 2018 represent the future of American politics. If the Republican Party becomes the party of the past — that is, of aging white men with less education — it could make winning elections increasingly difficult.

The Republican party was never popular with young people. Might they need to rebrand their image? Perhaps. And Trump is doing a great job of that by standing up for the people, and the worker. Democrats only offer more illegals, unnecessary social programs that cost a fortune and stagnant wages. Add higher taxes to all that mess, and you can see why immature people might prefer democrats, but ordinary people are turning away.

And many recents grads lean towards Democrat platforms not because they're more educated but because of their failure-to-thrive. Socialism, well anything, is seemingly a way out to them. Education is but knowledge, not to be confused with wisdom, foresight, and the ability to be gainfully employed.

Wow, more of the same **** I have been lsitening to for the last 25 years.

Young people vote Democrat. Minorities are all Democrat. America is increasingly minority. People want socialism. The Republican party is doomed, doomed doomed.

Let me respond the same way I have since high school: we are going to go ahead and hold the elections anyway.

Yes, the Democratic strategy of flooding the country with immigrants, legal and illegal, teaching them to hate white people, teaching them to want to be socilaists in the streets and white kids to be socialists in schools has paid some minor dividends. It is about to dry up for a number of reasons, most notably there isn't a massive population boom in Mexico an South America anymore, so they don't have the poverty to import to keep the poverty going.

As for the kids, they will grow up, get money, and realize just how stupid and destructve thing like a "green new deal" are in good time.

You had a narrow window of opportunity to change the country, and thanks to the electoral college, you failed.

Which isn't as awesome as some folks think. Yeah it means the Republicans are probably seeing their last gasp as the majority for a long long time, but thats not necessarily a good thing for our country long term. I personally would like a Republican party that was more vibrant and competitive in ways that appealed to people. They're using fear and hate which can be strong ways to gain power for short periods, but long term damage their party and our country. Because without that competition from them Democrats wont focus on doing a good job as much.

For those buying the nonsense about how when the kids get older they will become Republican, thats just nonsense. Turns out that the vast majority of folks have the same political views in their mid 20's as they will in their 60's. They don't change with age. Thats facts and reality. You're deluding yourself with wishful fantasies if you think otherwise.

Both parties need to start representing the core of their membership and stop allow their extreme fringes to be their spokesperson.

The dems will be staring down an exodus of young middle class voters if they keep embracing crazy and stupid extremist platforms and have whack job representatives and candidates. Populist candidates will eat them alive and they'll only estrange more voters by attacking them.
You can promise people anything but when they realize you're lying to them and have no intention of making good on your promises, you'll lose them. Eventually even dems can't keep getting played for fools without getting wise.

"The Republican party is on its deathbed!"

"We haven't had a distribution of wealth like this since the 1920s!"

How do you make these two statements fit together? Since 1980, the Republican party has enjoyed a long-tern resurgence that culminated in state and federal dominance from 2016-2018. If you wanted to see the Republican party on its deathbed, try the election of 1940 when a crypto-communist was elected vice president. The two party system now seems to be operating in typical postwar fashion, with the parties trading the White House every 8 years with a few outlier elections. Our system is historically competitive now.

Predictions of inevitable, irreversible changes to dynamic systems are almost always wrong, and just reveal partisan wishful thinking.

Some people thought the 1960s space race was a waste of money, and look at all the new technologies spinned off from it. Same thing with a Green New Deal. Also, the Gen-Xers who 'grew up and got money', the oldest born just after the Civil Rights Acts, don't seem to mind their kids going to school with people of different races and sexual orientations and even non-Judeo-Christians. So I guess some "liberal" ideas DO stick through time.
