The govt will find climate change everywhere it looks. It's always looking to expand further into our live$ and climate change is the perfect vehicle to accomplish such.
It started out as "man made global warming". When that didn't work the whackos changed it to "global warming".

In 1988, former Canadian Minister of the Environment, told editors and reporters of the Calgary Herald: “No matter if the science of global warming is all phony…climate change [provides] the greatest opportunity to bring about justice and equality in the world.”

Anyone who has ever spent time in academia or tried to get a paper published should know not to treat the words of researchers as holy writ. The peer review process is highly flawed and biased toward positive findings, the tenure process is a complete joke and 100% politicized with small ball office politics and big league national politics (even in the sciences), and there is intense social pressure among researchers in and out of the academy to toe the line on certain topics, with penalties such as shunning and mobbing for transgressors.
Especially on a topic such as climate change where so much energy has already been expended, and so many reputations, personal and institutional, are on the line, you will be hard pressed to get a straight answer from a researcher given the blowback that awaits those who disagree with the AGW hypothesis.
Why is why the pithy observation that the "climate science" depends for what little validity it may be able to claim on the "pal review" process (as opposed to genuine peer review) is so apt.
So everyone on the panel should have the same views?
No but they should have a background in research, someone like Judith Curry would be a good choice. So what's the purpose of this committee, what do they hope to accomplish or is the intent to contradict the government findings on climate that were published last year.
