Indeed, let's put aside our partisan differences and get to work on gun control, health care, reducing the deficit, sane trade policies, winding up those mideast wars, figuring out whether the POTUS is directing criminal conspiracies from the WH.

Lots of national problems to be dealt with. Let's get to it.

Likely, the only way Trump can be "persuaded" to retire is if he gets amnesty for him and the kids. Difficult to imagine either the Democrats or the SDNY prosecuting attorneys offering that. Why would they?

If they play their cards right, not only will Trump be gone in less than two years, but the Republican party could well be decimated with their base clinging to Trump's "deep state" conspiracy nonsense, and the sane ones too disgusted to vote for the Republicans involved in covering up his criminal conspiracies.

Pelosi and the Democrats have Trump and the Republicans by the short hairs. Why would they let go now?
Donnie Deutsch who knows both Trump and Cohen personally for years said today on Morning Joe that what Cohen said about Trump not going peacefully is accurate
That Trump would have no compunction about trying to set off a civil war to avoid being impeached or outed via election...

Wouldn’t surprise me—since nothing Trump does really “surprises” me
Nothing is too low for someone mentored by Roy Cohn...

As the esteemed Representative from the Virgin Islands said yesterday "Thank God House Democrats can walk and chew gum at the same time".

Would not surprise me at all.

Do you think the Republicans would back his play if that happened?

Indeed. They put the hearings on hold for a few minutes to go vote for background checks on gun purchases.

Pelosi is directing traffic here. A mother of five knows how to keep numerous matters simmering along at the same time.

Fair enough, however this is always how it is when criminals are brought to testify about the bad things they did and are familiar with. Who can trust such people? Who would want people whom have done such things to have a public forum?

Mobsters (whom have done nastier terrible things in secret) have had to testify before Congress and the information they provide can be valuable. I don't see this as any different.

So yes, verify! The man named others under questioning who are familiar with the things he brought out. They should be compelled to testify as well and whenever appropriate records can be sought.

Morning Joe just replayed the questioning between a GOP member and Cohen about the “boxes” Cohen referred to when explaining how he had to search for copies of physical evidence to bring to the hearing to support his statement...

The GOP guy kept asking about the boxes—where were they, why hadn’t they been given to authorities—
It was keystone cop funny
The guy either didn’t know or maybe just didn’t care that SDNY and Muller already had looked through all of Cohen’s “boxes” when they took down his three office, his houses, his computers, his phones (all 40 of then old and current)...

Guy was from Louisiana so that explains a lot...

Yes
Too bad that is not the same type of bill that would force McConnell to call a vote in the Senate
It likely will be tabled once it gets there...

The funny part of that was Cohen was repeatedly trying to tell him but the Rep from Louisiana kept cutting him off thinking he had him in some "gotcha" moment. Almost as big of a failure as the "gotcha" from Cohen not disclosing his contacts with foreign entities, which only served to highlight Republicans inability to read documents they created.
