If Cohen has evidence to back up his testimony, it will make Trump look like a crap human being. But still probably won't be enough for a GOP-controlled Senate to actually impeach.

Should give dems a huge boost in 2020 though, if Cohen does indeed have evidence that Trump committed financial crimes during the '16 campaign AND while in the White House. That would be really bad.
The Senate doesn't impeach, the Senate tries and the POTUS is removed from office if convicted.

The House impeaches. The Senate conducts a trial that is nominally referred to as an impeachment trial, but the Senate removes from office.

Both Andrew Johnson and Bill Clinton were impeached, but neither was removed from office (both were acquitted via vote in their Senate trials).

Not being removed from office via the results of the trial didn't make Johnson nor Clinton any 'less impeached'.

Both had still been impeached.

Our President besmeared and delegitimized himself the day he threw his country under the bus in Helsinki and said he trusted Putin more than his own government.

I realize we already have a thread about the Cohen testimony and one about Trump's negotiations with NK. This thread is specifically about the dems timing of the public testimony for the same day as Trump's meeting with Kim Jong-un.
Well the media coverage of both events will tell us where their priorities are.

I don't think Trump wanted to win, not ever thought he would win.

I've stated for a long time that I think there are three primary (or at least 'rise a little bit above the others') reasons that Trump ran (in no particular order):

1. To 'push Obama's buttons' at least a little bit for making fun of him at the 2011 White House Correspondents Dinner.

2. To build his brand.

3. To be able to whine that 'the system is rigged' until taking his last breath.
My exact thoughts, too.

Cohen's comments confirm my suspicions.

massive burn! and so very true, many of those repubs lying for Trump today will find themselves in serious trouble if Trump goes down....no wonder they keep attacking anyone who speaks out against Trump.

Just like a mob boss.

Cohen, not Cohn.

Roy Cohn was another Lawyer who worked for Trump (and many say greatly influenced how Trump interacts with the public), who Trump also 'didn't ultimately stand up for'.

Cohn died of AIDS related complications many years ago.
