It's really simple. Obama's platform wasn't entirely centered around and committed to rolling back civil rights for a large number of Americans. A MAGA hat essentially says "if you aren't white, straight, conservative, and the right kind of Christian, F YOU!!!"
I'm not a Trump supporter, not a Republican, and I'm agnostic, but I still think you should do your best to get out of Oklahoma/out of your situation for your own health and sanity.
Seriously though, a dress code of accepted color and style of slacks, shirts, shoes and skirts (if females desire to wear them) as a mix and match uniform offers many benefits to parents, students and school administrators on a variety of topics: financial, peer pressure, educational etc.
That is exactly the way to deal with the problem. Uniforms for all students in all schools across the entire country.
I proved my point, here is yet another narcissist grandstanding about a school dress code policy ("look at me!").
She can wear her darned MAGA shirts all she wants, the hat is against policy.
I wish kids across America were more concerned about things like grades, respect for rules, a safe and friendly environment for all, than challenging dress codes.
I don't know why kids need to wear hats in school at all. But as long as the policy is reasonable and fairly applied, it's the school's business why it wanted to restrict hat wearing to only those of school colors.

They do. Apparently kids can wear just about any type of T-shirt that floats their boat; the school just has a really restrictive hat policy for some reason. Seems kind of odd to me, but it is what it is.
We definitely weren't at my high school. But this was back in the 80's....
I grew up in the 80s too and I don’t remember them allowing hats to be worn in schools.
I think this boils down to people not wanting to follow the rules laid down by the school. Knowing that Trump doesn’t follow the rules himself it’s my guess his supporters feel the same way.
