Now that America has lost its moral authority...

Thank God for Canada!
Our boring neighbor is a moral leader of the free world
By Nicholas Kristof

Canada may be one of the world’s more boring countries, as yawn-inspiring as sensible shoes — wake up, reader, I know you’re snoozing!— but it’s also emerging as a moral leader of the free world.

There’s no one else. The United States under President Trump is on a nationalist tear. Britain’s leaders seem determined to drag their people over a Brexit precipice. France is distracted by protests. Germany is preparing for succession.

So Canada is stepping up.

What about Germany? Shouldn't it be considered the leader of the free world, since our government is no longer interested in leading?

Funny you should mention it. I've often thought lately how interesting it is that Germany, with its horrific Nazi record, has been acting so well lately. Activists like Laura Poitras live there because they feel Germany is a better place to be, apparently with less surveillance, for one thing.

When are they going to pay for their own defense?

I have no problem with the US no longer being the "leader of the free world."

All it's gotten us is a $1 trillion a year global hegemonic military empire, multiple wars, and hundreds of thousands of slaughtered civilians in its wake.

From an entirely left skewed viewpoint.

Moderates are looking at what the Democrat party is becoming and it isn't where Americans want to go.

Carry on, as I think Parrots are entertaining.
