Only all the time. The ultimate liberal mouthpiece, the New York Times, does this pretty much daily, with countless stories aiming to portray people in the hinterlands as racist, homophobic, xenophobic or otherwise uncouth. It's what their readers want since, if you can't be happy with yourself and your own life, the next best thing is to feel like you're better than someone else.
I never read the NYT, but since this happens on a “daily basis”, I’m sure you have lots of links to post.
Thanks!
Maher is a complicated individual..... a comedian who clearly is liberal but is actually funny at times. He is the only one on the left that I am remembering, warning about the dangers of Islam. No I don't agree with all of his ideas or comedy but I'll respect him for being smart.
And who's going to work there? Billy Bob Bubba and his cousins?
There aren't enough smart, educated people who are willing to live in red states. It's just that simple.
If your contention is true, then how do you account for the large scale exodus from California to Texas? If these enlightened coastal folks are so averse to living in a red state, then why would so many of them be voluntarily leaving the blue state paradise of California?

Yeah, I like Maher's stuff, including the clip in the OP. It's a comedic take on Charles Murray's Belmont/Fishtown dichotomy. But it ignore all the trouble in blue state areas outside of Belmont.

I've not laughed at his jokes. Never really watched anything he's been on for probably 20 years. I see a clip of him every now and then riling up the left and poking fun at the right, but other than that he has no bearing on me and my life. That's what I mean, I don't wish to be like someone I have no interest in and know nothing about. I wish to be me, which is a father, husband, and well, basically a middle American.
Are you kidding? He is a fricking COMEDIAN...making a joke!!
If anything, he was expressing sympathy for red states by saying Amazon should have considered a less wealthy place to put is HQ 2.0.
Also, Maher does lots of live shows in red states...he knows the real picture is different than the one he is painting for a JOKE.
Ah the classic Jon Stewart move, "I'm just a comedian, don't take me seriously". Jimmy Kimmel tried that one as well when he got political.
