Because anyone rational will believe that God controls the weather here on our 6,000 year old earth and that the warming temperatures are a part of his plan, right?
Nope the broad consensus is that MAN is causing this climate change.
And that is how humans operate. with or without science, religion or law... consensus.
When the whole of humanity agrees on something, those who dissent must provide the proof, not those who agree. You don't have to like it, i am sure there were many folk who were correct but deemed wrong because they could not prove the earth orbited the sun..
Today humanity says YOUR view is not only the outlier but one which imperils mankind. Why it is ONLY the extreme right wing of the USA that struggles to accept reality is beyond me. But i think it is the ungodly union of the republican party with religious zealots that is the underlying problem.

The fact that a group of scientists whose bread-n-butter is man-made global warming and are employed by an agency dedicated to solely investigating man-made global warming to the exclusion of all other possible causes proves nothing.
Where is the proof that the temperature would not rise another 7.8°F to 15.3°F on its own?

AGW is the opposite of science, in that a preposterous hypothesis is presented and one is to assume it is true unless you cannot 100% prove otherwise.
It is scientific lunacy. It is like saying that the center of earth is made of gumdrops and chocolate. As you cannot definitively prove otherwise, it is true.
Most of those who support AGW have no scientific training or knowledge whatsoever and are thus gullible and easily fooled by pseudo-science. Even when you show them the marked methodological and statistical flaws in the "data", they don't understand it.
History will look upon this as one of the biggest farces of all time, rivaling the Cardiff Giant, bleeding to cure disease, and belief in ghosts. It is embarrassing that our historical cohorts are so easily duped by such flawed pseudo-science, yet our entire generation will be viewed as idiots.

Maybe you should have read the article.
Null hypothesis = temperatures and their variations are completely random and have no correlation whatsoever with rising CO2 levels caused by man's emissions
5 sigma result = statistical analysis of all temperature records and CO2 levels show they are very nearly perfectly correlated. We can say with 99.99994% accuracy that man-made climate change is happening, that man's CO2 emissions are warming the planet.
It isn't the "opposite of science." It's the precise and proper application of science. You might want to consider adjusting your politics accordingly.
