Wasn't there a guy named James Meredith, circa 1962, who tried to enroll at the University of Mississippi? The State of Mississippi wasn't too pleased about that, and balked. The Federal Government responded by sending in the US Army. Who won that standoff?

They even want to ban euthanasia, even though a person should be able to choose for themselves if they want euthanasia because it is a personal decision. Ithink a person must be able to decide what's best for themselves, when it comes to abortion or euthanasia. I think in the case of a rape victim, they definitely should be able to get emergency contraception or an abortion. I just don't understand how it can be seen as the will of god to force a rape victim to give birth to their rapist baby. Just disgusting...
Then women should stop spreading their legs and men should stop porking every female in sight.

I seriously would like to see what DC would do. Would they really send in troops to try and MAKE us allow child genocide? If so, I say that perhaps it's time we break away from DC and secede.
Why don't you buy you a few acres in Hooterville, set up in a nice trailer there, and secede from the rest of us. I am in complete agreement with you.

What if a state flipped the bird to Roe vs Wade and banned abortion?

What if a state flipped the bird to Federal marijuana laws and made laws legalizing pot in the state?

At some point, all these states will probably have to deal with the feds to some degree. I cannot imagine the federal Govt is just to allow the states to continue bucking the system for too much longer!

How many weekly threads on abortion rights are really necessary? This is maniacal already.

I don't recall this many threads 5 - 10 years ago...

The sudden fervor is strange...

Roe vs. Wade was a long time ago. It's 2019, it's settled. Time to move on.

My dry cleaning is returned to me on metal hangers, so there's still that.

I guess that you're too young to remember women dying from illegal abortion.

The state would suffer economic boycotts and significant loss of revenue and likely loss of jobs. On top of that there would probably be federal retaliation in aid and subsidies. Lawsuits galore. Back alley abortions. A state would not be allowed to secede even if they were dumb enough to try over this issue. Oh, and states can't nullify federal laws or Supreme Court rulings.

It's a simple process. The state would pass a law, which would be challenged in federal court. When the federal court made its ruling, the loser would appeal to the Supreme Court. At that time, SCOTUS would decide whether to uphold or overturn Roe.
