I just do not understand how Liberals can harbor such a love affair with people that number one are illegally in the country and number two that have committed terrible crimes.
We all know that the Democrats are willing to look the other way as the so called "dreamers" skirt our immigration laws BUT what is the excuse for harboring and protecting Illegal alien criminals that have been arrested?
According to the article over a 2 year period 5600 illegal aliens that ICE had detainers on were not turned over to them but instead let go into the Sanctuary state.
"Of these 5,600 failed ICE detainers, more than 3,400 were lodged against an illegal alien who had been classified “level 1” and “level 2” offenders — meaning that these illegal aliens had been charged with crimes like homicide, kidnapping, sexual assault, robbery, aggravated assault, drugs, and fraud."
What is wrong with the state of California that is letting murderers and sex offenders loose to no doubt repeat their crimes on the unsuspecting Citizens, LEGAL immigrants and the "dreamers"?
I don't understand, how can the Democrats possibly defend this. Do they really hate Trump and the brave people of ICE that much that they are willing to put good people at risk by releasing known criminals?
If you want them turned over you are going to have to raise taxes to pay for huge prisons to hold people in.
Immigration is entirely the realm of the Federal government. If you don't want to pay the costs associated with enforcement, don't complain when others don't either.

A big part of the problem is that the parties cater to the extremes because they are the ones who are most likely to vote in the primaries. And if you do not win the primary, then you are not going to the general election anyway, so making extreme promises to the far left (or far right) does not matter.
I think a lot of the rank and file Democrats are smart enough and are against illegal migration, or at least want it controlled somehow. But the politicians in Clown Koo Koo land like California and New York City, are not looking at the whole rank and file Democratic base, they are looking at the extremists who are more likely to come out to vote in the primaries. And these days unfortunately, the extreme left in the Democratic party is extreme indeed.

Ahh Trump is trying to do something about the problem and the Dems are resisting him. What are we supposed to do? I think it is STUPID that the Police can catch a criminal, they go through the court system (no one cares they are illegal) ICE wants them but the state ignores the order and the murderer and rapist drug dealers are released back into the community.
Don't the Dems know that a murderer, rapist or drug dealer doesn't care who they hurt? They don't care if it a citizen, Legal immigrant or Illegal alien.
The Dems don't seem to care about this at all and they do their best to protect these bozos. WHY?
Trump wants to build a wall where it is needed, ICE wants to do their job by collecting and deporting known criminal aliens but the Left is stopping it. WHY?

It's simple really.
The Dems know that each of them and their offspring are future Democratic voters. That's it.
It's really not a Republican/Democrat issue. "Sanctuary" status is the default and what the law calls for. Local and state authorities are not charged with nor have budget for immigration enforcement.
But going as far as tipping them off to ICE raids? That's a problem.
