Who are you....Webster dictionary now? Why should I be bound to your definition of what mind reading is? Thus far I have gleaned that you fancy yourself as a mind reader.....and publisher of dictionaries.

Which is why they have so much notoriety. Thomas Sowell is an economist by education and profession. Rarely do I see him brought on as a guest to speak on matters like the causes of the great recession, the stock market, the impact of FED policy, etc. It seems his opinions get put to the forefront on economic matters and race.....not just pure economics.

That did not answer the question if green_mariner considers them race hustlers. Sowell can have two thoughts at the same time and express his considerably learned opinion of economics as it affects the Black community. That you don't like it is irrelevant. That you think he is a token tells me more about you.

Apologies; it was another poster.

I consider Thomas Sowell to be an intelligent individual who recognizes that his profitable syndication and appearances are largely made viable due to his opinions as they relate to black people. In other words, he profits from his opinions on black people. If you reward an opinion....that opinion will grow. All I am saying is that he is profiting off of "race". That seems to be all that is required to get a black liberal labeled as a "race hustlers".

I have never read or witnessed Condalisa Rice allowing herself to be used that way or certainly not willfully profiting from it. I have a lot of respect for her and Colin Powell. They exude a model of conservatism that could attract other blacks.

I have no idea who Shelby Steele is. Sowell, I think he's more of an economist than a specialist on race relations. He thinks like an economist. Some of what he says I agree with, other things I think he's crazy. Not so much a race hustler, but someone who doesn't seem to understand that there is still racial prejudice and bigotry to deal with. He has some of the attributes that could make him a race hustler.

Carson, I think he isn't that smart in terms of politics. He was alot better respected as a doctor. I'm not well read on what he has said. I've read some of what he has said. I don't think "race hustler" when I look at him. I think "A good doctor, but bad with people". Dr. Carson says really stupid things, and he doesn't think about how stupid he sounds. And then I think "he was trained to operate on people, not relate to them". What is sad is that he would have made a better President than Trump. That let's me know the state of politics as it stands currently.

This is everywhere in America. Some people are more open with it than others. America has always been a place where people look out for their tribe before looking out for the country. The Civil War should serve as proof.

Well, first I would look at how Mike Huckabee and John Kasich developed sizable followings in the Black American population.

This is the way I see it. If we are to apply the same standards on both sides, we can find race hustlers on both sides. However, I notice that is only used to describe someone who doesn't agree with them. No one here is saying that Al Sharpton isn't race hustling. But what about Jesse Lee Peterson?

I notice that unlike FOX News, the youtubers I'm speaking of tend to have majority-Black audiences. There are more Black conservatives out there than you think. And there are those who will speak out against Black liberals. However, I've noticed that they are more likely to do so when the audience is majority Black. There are some Black people who bully Black conservatives. There are also blacks who will embrace a Black conservative. There are Black people who will vote Republican if it is the right kind of Republican. And some Black conservatives find one another. Consider this. 1.3 percent of the FOX News audience is Black. However, there are more Blacks with conservative views than just the 1.3 percent.

I think your answer shows me that you don't get it. From my own experiences, more Blacks DON'T join the GOP because they feel they aren't welcomed or wanted there. Bullying from other blacks might keep some people quiet. However, some conservatives share some blame in this as well. Most Republicans don't seem to reach out to Blacks much. In fact, I've heard from conservatives right here on CD, that the Republican Party looks at reaching out to Blacks as "a waste of time. Blacks won't vote Republican anyway, so why bother". \

And this is what Mia Love, a Black female Republican, had to say regarding why more Blacks don't join the GOP.

A better question to ask yourself is this. Do some Black conservatives feel that the GOP isn't for them?
You raise some valid points, but I have to ask if any race is openly welcomed and invited into the GOP? That's not really how that works. Are blacks chased out when they do join? I've not seen that to be true. I also think that bullying, on all sides, is to blame. Blacks are bullied by other blacks for joining the conservative side. And conservatives are bullied for welcoming minorities, with the bullies implying that they are not sincere when welcoming minorities.
