It's about time! Republicans are now putting country over Trump!

Quote:
President Trump is facing a potential revolt among Senate Republicans over his decision to declare a national emergency to construct the U.S.-Mexico border wall.

Sen. Rand Paul's (R-Ky.) public announcement over the weekend that he will oppose Trump's declaration ensures a resolution blocking it will be approved by the Senate after already passing the House - unless Senate Republicans can find some kind of last-minute way out of the showdown.

Republicans have been hunting for a way out of a fight over the declaration that has badly fractured the caucus, but Paul's decision underscores the difficulty leadership faces in finding a successful exit strategy.

The GOP dam can only hold back so much Trump BS before it breaks and Trump has been dumping a lot lately.

It boils down to integrity. This is going to test some Republicans severely.

Anyone who believes Rand Paul will actually live up to what he said needs to reconsider that decision
Paul has notorious habit for claiming he will stand up to various GOP votes or measures and then deflates

I agree. Trump will invite him for dinner at the white house and he'll fold.

But ... this would otherwise be a great time for him to demonstrate his independence and ideological integrity (not that anyone really expects to see it).

It’s all false courage. They know trump will veto the bill then they can all run back and hump his leg like they always do and won’t override the veto.

Show me.

And I'm not even from Missouri.

They won't override his veto.

Except... the troops really can't do anything there... they don't have any authority.

It's a good point. Paul knows they don't have the votes to over-ride. So why not play both sides of the fence? Republicans are playing with fire here, because the Democrats will surely use the Emergency powers for their own pet projects in the future.
