Yes 8 million registered users, counting all the disused accounts that were hacked a few years ago and are now being used to harass Ravelry: karma in action. That’s not counting the many socket puppet accounts. 8 million in their dreams.
They banned an entire group who opposed Obama in the last election. This is nothing new, just a Boston based man and wife team who are elite liberals atoning for their own white privilege. While all patterns that now have MAGA or Trump on them are banned, F*CK Trump ones are not. They will tell you they are an inclusive group, as long as you meet their definition of inclusive.
This couples livelihood is from their site. Controversy brings publicity. $$$$
They did ban that entire anti-Obama group in 2008. Why? Some members were discussing killing then-candidate Obama. As a result the Secret Service went to Casey's home and questioned him and his then-girlfriend/fiance. He then banned the offending group in its entirety; obviously the mods of the group weren't doing their job.
Knitting Knazis. I've heard some disturbing rumors about them.
Believe those rumors - I've got one in my family, she has an entire room devoted to Yarn with cubbies for each color. Leftist as they come, she is either leading this entire Knitters are Racist - OR - she is cowering under her pattern table.
Scary people, these racist Knitters. Normal People should do all they can to avoid them.
I'm seeing a pattern to all this (K)nitpicking. Looks like it's mostly a bunch of yarns and maybe just useless needling. I do know snitches get stitches but don't want to wale too much and get caught in a loop on the subject.

I'd say the banning was justified.
That’s their version of the story, the people from the Bunker tell it differently. I’d say the truth is likely somewhere in between.
I would be willing to bet Casey has backup for "his version."
He’s a programmer, I’m sure he can pull a rabbit out of a hat too. I’m not starstruck and enamoured of the Ravelry crew to believe everything they say. They have an agenda I find hateful.

Yeah, I wonder what goes on at the knitting club my 91-year-old mother attends every week. What's REALLY up with those prayer shawls and mittens for the homeless kids?
Shades of "Madame DeFarge" (Tale of Two Cities) comes to mind.
As it's said, "people who live in political bubbles shouldn't point needles!"
