Because your base hates Israel, man. They’re not going to support punishing a progressive who plays rough with supporters of the Jewish state, even if “playing rough” in this case means old smears about dual loyalty. They want more political space to attack Israel’s advocates, not less. If that means protecting anti-semites then that’s what it means.
Deutch makes a fair point here when he notes that typically the left follows the lead of the victimized group when a charge of a prejudice is made. If the group thinks a comment aimed at them was bigoted, then it was bigoted. Not here, he says. Plenty of Jews took offense at Omar’s comment about foreign allegiance, obviously including Deutch himself. So why are Democrats debating whether the comment was anti-semitic?
As I have said many times, the Democratic Party has always been the place where bigots and racists go to, because they believe they can move their agenda forward; all the while claiming the exact opposite.

It's pretty amazing that the Democrats can get away with overt racism and bigotry at practically every turn.
The root problem is and has been the corrupt one-sided American media.
Yes, the reluctance to pass a crystal-clear antisemitism resolution highlights a lack of moral direction for the Democratic Party. There are certainly parallels in WW II history, and the current statistics make the KKK scare a faint ghost, in comparison, during our current era. It cannot be over-emphasized that the size of the Israeli state does not easily lend itself to divided government. Besides, how can countries like ours that proclaim ourselves “indivisible “ offer as a solution a division of territory, when our land masses are so much more robust and more impervious to simple rocket fire attacks and short-range missiles?
This forum is fairly balanced, but I frequent a couple of other forums (infrequently) that are decidedly leftist, and you wouldn't believe what I read. Some posters are livid that Omar is being criticized, and are insisting it's because she's Muslim and that Jews are unfairly claiming she's antisemitic because they, the Jews, are anti-MUslim!
So, IOW, a Muslim makes antisemitic remarks, and when Jews complain, we have liberals coming out of the woodwork to not only defend her - but to turn it around against the Jews.

The leadership is so afraid of the regressives that they are frozen in place.
The regressives will be the death of the dumbocrap party
Dems can't pass a resolution condemning Omar's multiple anti-Semitic comments because such a rebuke would impair their intersectional coalition. Jews are the smallest minority group and disposable.
Now they are trying to blame their hate on "white supremacists" and has added every single ethnic and religious minority, and spends just as much time denouncing "anti-muslim discrimination" as it does on antisemitism, and doesn't even mention the most bigoted person in congress, Omar. The text of this pathetic"resolution" is here: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...utes-vote.html
The fact that they can't even pass a simple resolution condemning antisemitism is very telling.
