I used to be a registered Independent. For some stupid reason, when I registered, I thought that would stop candidate minions from calling or sending me surveys with slanted premise questions (Hillary Clinton's survey was the worst) and what I call general political junk mail. DUH to me! Just the opposite was true. I got it all from everyone. I finally changed my registration to match the way I voted so I could vote in the local primary.

That's interesting- when we lived in Fl, for the 2004 election my husband got "grass roots" mailings for the Bush campaign- I wonder how they get information/use it -especially since my husband is a registedred Dem and hadnt voted in 10 years?

Buying lists is quite common. Isn't your mailbox half full of advertisements, solicitations, etc!

I'll check but I think voter registration lists are also sold!

OTR- I knew about lists but that is sort of invasion of privacy- if political parties are calculating what your last vote was- etc., I know businesses do it.

Yes, an extreme breach or invasion of privacy, but I think it's done.

And, of course, you know about those lists--! - but what other lists exist that we are unaware of these days--that's my thought!

Exactly. I recently had to "opt out"" for a fricking credit card that mailed like 20 offers in 5 days- TALK ABOUT PREDATORY ADVERTISING/LENDING Credit cards in the US today are worsed than personal injury lawyers at a deceased persons funeral!

Ahh, Capital one aye?

They could lower their rates by a full point at least, if they stopped mailing everyone a handful of apps every day.

I think most Independents are in a dead run -away from democrats. They are by political definition a contradiction in terms. By definition independent means ignoring political party lines. Few things of any social consequence are black and white. Under no circumstance could I ever vote for a democrat. Modern day democrats are socialists. They want from those who work what they have refused to work to attain. Although I respect the great movers and shakers that create jobs I think they oftentimes lack the character, ethics, and sense of fairness to reward those that contribute to their greatness as no man walks alone or is the master of his own success. Given the two extremes, I'll take my cake with the guy who decides what size slice he will give me relative to my contribution, as opposed to the guy who decides what size slice he is going to take from me.

job demographics- they would know to NEVER mail credit card offers to anyone who has managed a banking center. Big mistake.
