Not everyone here is a Republican that believes that the system is abused. You're falling into the stereotyping hole. I'm a Democrat and admitted I was on food stamps for a while upthread - but I also know others who were on food stamps and really abused them. I know people on Welfare - that abuse every gov't handout.
It's not everyone - but fraud has risen through the years along with the drug problem.
To the person who said - druggies know tricks to bypass drug tests - probably so - but my husband's plant drug tests all new employees and random testing of current employees. I could tell you many stories of how people tried to fool the test and failed big time. One guy thought if he peed his pants - he wouldn't have to take the test. When your brains been addled by drugs or you're just not that smart to begin with - you really make an a** of yourself.
You would be surprised how large of an industry there is to support those needing to pass a drug test, (when they cannot do it legitimately.) Buying clean urine online is easily accessible, as well as all sorts of clever devices to help conceal it. I recently saw a small pouch that was designed to fit inside a shoe with a long thin tube, you could tap your foot to pump clean urine thru the tubing, they even had a way to keep the urine at body temperature!
Tried and failed in Florida, cost way too much and < 1% positive. Millions spent for 100 positives.
.....they saved money when you include the 1600 that refused the test and undetermined amount of people that never applied because of the testing.
