The Germans have never said they are going to eliminate coal, gas or nuclear altogether, as I previously stated only 65% of energy is planned to be renewable by 2030 and not all energy.

In terms of Britain, we are eliminating coal altogether by 2025, however we are building some new power stations (although a number have noew been shelved) and we get our gas from the North Sea, Norway and via LNG Tankers rather than from Russia.

Yes, Bush and Obama opposed German pipelines from Russia. However, they opposed it more mildly.
Seems like not only does Trump own this policy, he owns it more aggressively than Bush or Obama who were comparatively passive (and as I stated before, Trump is aggressive to a fault).

This is standard foreign policy. In other words, pressure countries to buy American weapons, technology, industrial products, etc. even though there are other options at a lower price.

Germans would love it if Americans close all their bases in Germany; they don't want any "protection", never did. In turn, Germany could get sanctions and their products restricted from the US market.

The problem is a conflict between the economy and politics. Maybe after ww3 people learn to separate the two. At the root of the conflict is profits.
