Right!!! According to DEA and other experts, they have known this for quite awhile though...So why do so many cities and state have major heroin epidemics going on still? Are they THAT ineffective?

They just convicted Chapo too, the head guy for the Sinaloa cartel...but has that resulted in the drug flow slowing at all...NOPE...HAs anything they have tried to date been effective...NOPE...so where does that leave us?

They keep demanding our tax money year after year, and their duty is to get this under control...but where is it all going, drugs are more available right now than any other time in history!?

Tillis (R. SC) wrote an OP-Ed last month indicating that the senate needed to take action against this emergency declaration yet voted against the measure. Sasse (R. NE) has written books on the constitution yet also voted against the measure. So where did all these conservative senators disappear to, do they pick and choose the parts of the constitution they like.

The Democrats won't allot funding to complete the 700 mile long wall already approved by congress back in 2006 but not built so how can one say that they are for border security today? The good walls in place have proven to be very effective also. Funny how both Obama and Schumer signed that bill back then and so did many other Democrats but now they balk at building it? Hmm.

Monies allocated last year restricted Trump from building any "new" barriers only for repairs on the mere fencing that was built.

No, Obama only deported "convicted" criminal aliens while having a hands off approach to the rest. He also counted those turned around at the border as deportations. He also implemented DACA and DAPA to protect millions of illegal aliens from deportation. His deportation record was dismal. No such thing as an undocumented individual either they are illegal aliens.

your logic is flaw.

it's because the port of entry is loaded with xray machines, drug sniffing dogs, high fences/walls, and other security measures. that's why they caught a lot of drugs at POEs.

there is none of that outside of the POEs.

a good analogy is you have two roads, let's call them road A and road B. you place a DUI checkpoint on road A and no checkpoint on road B. In one night you catch 10 DUIs on road A and 0 DUIs on road B. Do you come to a conclusion that there are more DUIs on road A than road B? The correct answer is: you don't know

Yeah, those cartels send their 18 wheelers across the desert.

They're really good at crossing the dunes.

And when they get to the "unguarded" border, they just cruise on through. </sarcasm>

Relax

Border vigilantes are keeping us all safe.

They're part of tRump's "tough guys" who'll take out libs in November 2020.

Those 12 Republicans could not in any fashion be considered cowards based on this vote. They based their vote on principle, and that was a brave thing to do. Senators with a Libertarian bent would be bound by conscience to oppose the president on this, but across the political spectrum anyone can see it is an abuse of power.

There would have been several more Republicans supporting the measure if they had the strength of character. The people who voted no are the true cowards. They know what Trump is doing is constitutionally wrong, and they know it sets a bad precedent for the future. Two strong reasons to support the action.

If he vetoes and they don’t override it will be decided in courts. Lawsuits have been filed in two district courts.
