Socialism

"Socialism demands that we place blind trust in whoever takes the power to distribute society’s goods and services. History shows those who have this power abuse it in horrific ways."

Democratic socialism has little to do with being Democratic.

Boomers outgrew their fringe views as the money rained down on them. Millenials will do the same, but the question is, where's the money? All they have is debt to their name. If our corporations really wanted America to remain faithful to capitalism, they would be showering the people with money. Instead, it all goes to shareholders and CEOs. This is the perfect recipe for socialism.

Personally, I think our largest corporations have planned on and prepared for transitioning into a socialist model, so they could care less.

Sweden, Norway, Denmark. The horror. The humanity!

A little bit of socialism mixed in with a whole lot of our capitalism is a recipe for happiness and success. As evidenced by the above.

But for some reason the only examples Russian trolls like the OP (and Fox News) care to proffer are Venezuela and Stalin. Well, if I were a Russian troll I guess Stalin would be the first person who came to mind. He probably starved the OP's great great grandma, babushka and all.

We are fortunate that our Founding Fathers knew to divide power as far and wide as possible which has allowed us to avoid concentrated power for over 200 years....when we put too much power in a concentrated place, the nation and ideal of america will die and we'll become just like all the Socialist dictatorship such as Venezuela.

Which model do you think is closer to socialism, Norway's or Venezuela's? Many proponents of socialism like to cherry pick and call the Nordic countries "socialist" when they are nothing more than a typical, mature advanced mixed economic model. They cannot be called socialist in the traditional sense. They are more a representation of where the developed world is heading.

I want the Norway one. Duh? A pinch of socialism mixed in with a heaping helping of capitalism.

Venezuela and North Korea are the most idyllic Socialist states....Norway allows freedom and capitalism so they are highly disfavored.

That's what we have here in the USA, minus the socialized medicine. What many millennials seem to be pushing for is outright socialism, or severely restricted capitalism. "Democratic socialism" is a load of crap. A new name for the same old failed model. The fact that it isn't being completely rejected by the masses is concerning. Some people really believe we can vote for everything we need or want, without having a sound plan in place to pay for it. It shows tremendous ignorance and lack of foresight.

As if those who have the power who aren't socialists don't abuse the power. Just witness Trump attempting to usurp the Constitutional right given to Congress to allocate funds. Or, is Trump a socialist?
