A Republican senator says that he’s had enough of President Donald Trump’s personal attacks on the late John McCain and that “the country deserves better.”

Johnny Isakson of Georgia is quoted Wednesday as telling The Bulwark conservative news and opinion website that “nothing is more important than the integrity of the country and those who fought and risked their lives for all of us.”

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/...ys/3221179002/

"...Isakson said on the floor of the Senate that "anybody who in any way tarnishes the reputation of John McCain deserves a whipping.""

And this guy is no liberal.

I didn't vote for Trump or HRC but I have found myself being in support of a lot of what Trump has done and is attempting to accomplish. But I have lost a lot of respect for him with this McCain business. Attacking a guy who's dead is just feeble and comes off as attacking McCain's surviving family. Whether or not Trump liked McCain is so totally irrelevant to anything now and these tirades Trump is going on are totally non sequitur and totally unbefitting of a sitting president in public forum.

There's just no justification for this sort of behavior.

Trump doesn’t seem to understand that this is the sort of thing that will keep him from winning in 2020.
I say keep it up!

McCain was an arrogant snob. He continued his revenge against our president even when he was dying. Good luck in the afterlife guy!

Man, I really hope no Trump supporters whine and complain as half the country celebrates whenever Trump dies...

I think Trump continues to tweet about John McCain because he is trying to distract us from his proposed budget, which will take a couple of trillion from Medicare, Social Security, and Medicaid, making all three pretty much non-functional. Ignore this at your own risk, but I doubt that the Congress is ignoring it.

All you older right-wingers, if you are relying on Social Security and Medicare, you could get a rude awakening. Trump promised never to touch these, but we all know how good his word is. In addition to older people, there are millions of handicapped people who can't work, and who rely on this to live.

It blows my mind that more people aren't talking about this. it's like Trump supporters have their fingers in their ears and just screaming "la la la la la" to things they dont' want to hear.

Boomers are a huge chunk of Trump's base, and they will be hid HARD by these ginormous cuts Trump will be making. And as you said, Trump mentioned on the campaign trail in 2016 that he would never make any cuts to Medicare & Medicaid.

TRUMP LIED. But not a single Trump supporter here on City-Data will acknowledge it.

I just read that the National Cathedral does not seek any permission or assistance from any government official unless the person is a past President. Funerals like McCain's are completely arranged by the family. So Trump's claim that he "gave" McCain the funeral is a lie.

This is exactly why he's doing it!
