Kick 'em to the curb, apparently. Finding a shopping cart is up to them.

It astounds me that so many people seem to not know that the reason we have medical insurance, whether public or private, is because most individuals can't afford to pay out-of-pocket for medical care. This began to be true when technology started to produce modern medical 'miracles'. We have to make decisions about our own care and our families' care that were not only unavailable 100 years ago - they were unimaginable.

I not only would, I do.

The thing is that the job is far too big for private charity. And that was true several hundred years ago, long before modern medicine.

Well, if you're healthy and have no serious chronic conditions, you don't need much money for health care. Going to a doctor to get antibiotics for strep throat isn't going to cost a fortune, unless you're really poor. And if you are poor, there may be a community health care center that will cover a portion of the expense. However, serious accidents can cost a fortune and being prepared with health insurance for that possibility isn't a bad idea.

What is the GOP healthcare plan?

Imaginary!

Quit being thieving scumbags trying to reach into MY pocket, or the pocket of anyone else as you demand your WANTS be paid for by others. You do NOT NEED health care insurance. You NEED to learn to be responsible and EARN and PAY for your own WANTS.
Good then you can only have the military spending and tax cuts we can afford. Which is none as we are running massive deficits from the conservative party that just got done bitching about deficits before making them explode again.

Spending other people's money is only ok when it's for killing brown people and large tax cuts. **** the lady with cancer that doesn't have coverage before she reached the Medicare finish line

I had insurance, and now have Medicare.

The point is that whether you pay premiums to a health insurance company and/or taxes to pay for Medicare and Medicaid, you are helping others pay for their medical care, and you do this because you expect that someday your turn will come and other people will help you pay for your medical care. And we do this because we recognize that most of us, including middle class people, can't afford to pay for it on our own.
