The strange thing I noticed, when the DEA made that statement, about not being open to lowering marijuana on the drug schedule list...its was THEM making this statement!!!

This is NOT a decision for them to make though, its very suspicious they made that statement, like it was something THEY had control over (versus the congress and senate).

Not to mention, a majority of Americans are changing their mind on this issue...when a govt agency 'goes rogue' and makes decisions based on what THEY want, or what THEY feel is best...that should be a call to arms for every person hearing it!!! And that agency should be immediately suspended and de-funded, in short, they have stopped representing the interest of the people and are choosing to serve their own interests (that is treasonous), and if a citizen continues to obey their laws or recognize them as an authority, that is treasonous as well! We have a DUTY to shut this kind of thing down when it pops up!

It's already here to some extent. Rec marijuana is already legal in 10 states. The sky didn't fall in those states as a result. By the mid 2020s, I think marijuana will be legal at the national level. There is too much money to be made in the marijuana industry to just keep delaying it.

The states are seeing that the benefits of making it legal and regardless of what federal law says they are pushing forward. Good for them!

You'd have to get rid of the entire state of Florida and many other backwards places that are still making felons out of those with pot.

I should mention - you'd have to do away with most "conservative" states. They not only believe it is the devils weed, but they think they have a right to haul you away for it.

Also, you'd have to get rid of Trump who obviously directed Sessions to put out that banking memo and other memos saying the government would change the Obama "lightening up".

I'm ready when you are. When will we find you and your compatriots in the streets or at the state house? Point me to those pages on the internet.

Let's face it - Pot and Republicans are like Gays and Republicans. They are being dragged along slowly...in the case of both, mostly for the money and populism. They don't have the core beliefs of freedom in your mind and/or body.

Lightbulb Cannabis: 61% support full legalization and over 90% support at least medical; when will the GOP get out of the way?

When the tobacco and alcohol lobbyists allow them to.

Next easy question, please.

No. It really is up to us, folks. Not the DEA, and not the lobbyists.

There is one thing even more powerful than lobbyist money and the DEA: The power of the vote.

It WILL NOT happen until we start voting out prohibitionists. When the rest get the message, they will quickly POP (Pivot On Pot).

The power of the vote is the only power in the universe powerful enough to overcome the lobbyist's check book and unlimited bank account balance.

Public opinion has clearly reached a tipping point on this issue. Yet, the GOP remains committed to "protecting the moral fabric of our society" by wasting millions of taxpayer dollars and ruining lives by locking up nonviolent pot users. Even among the GOP voter base, 51% supports legalization, with the strongest opposition of course coming from the Christian Right.

And yes, I know Obama had the opportunity to legalize and didn't, but public opinion wasn't there yet at the time. Today, the Democratic Party has officially endorsed legalization while the GOP is doubling down on prohibition of the "devil's lettuce." Obama did the best he could at the time and that was the Cole memo, which stated that the federal government wouldn't interfere with states that chose to legalize. I can guarantee that had Romney won 2012, we'd still be illegal in all 50 states for recreational and medical expansion wouldn't be near as far along.

So when will the GOP do as John Boehner says and "get out of the way"? Why should the inaccurate and outdated beliefs of religious fundamentalists about this plant "Trump" the facts and popular opinion?

Not even gay marriage had this much support when SCOTUS legalized it in all 50 states.

It was the democrats that made it illegal in the first place

and many democrats are still on board with the "gateway" meme

many republicans are for making cannabis legal

did you know there are 1001 uses for cannabis other than getting high???

Your statement, however accurate, has absolutely nothing to do with cannabis.

You've been brainwashed your entire life to believe that cannabis is something that it is not: A sin. That isn't your fault; your parents were brainwashed too. The brainwashing started almost 82 years ago.

If ingesting cannabis is a sin, so is ingesting caffeine.
