Because the same stuff that rolls downhill tends to stick together, and blames anyone but themselves for the problems they (the dead weight) created in the first place.

I recognize, as everyone should, that there are a substantial number of people too slow-witted to find much of a role in an emerging post-industrial society, and that everyone, provided they recognize the rules, deserves a basic measure of the freedom and dignity that society can support; but they cannot be allowed to loot the public and non-profit treasuries via the voting booth.

New York City is the home of capitalism and also a liberal bastion...the fact that it is un affordable is due to capitalism...people pay to live there...just ask Trump!

Rents ans property values rise when an area is popular. There is huge demand for those that want to live in NYC. Duh. What a dumbo thread.

IMO liberal places are "aspirational" meaning people go there to be successful. I remember visiting one of these places and a construction worker told me you can't touch it for less than $80,000 a year. It's no fault to fail in a place like that. There are probably conservative places where $30,000 a year puts you in high cotton and people there struggle to make ends meet.

NY will be losing at least 1 of not 2 more electoral votes & representatives come 2020. It continues a trend that has been going on for the last 50 years and seems to be accelerating.

You can't blame them for trying when the whole Democratic party is encouraging that very thing.

Can this be the dumbest post of the new year so far? Party affiliation has nothing to do with this.

The bigger the city the more expensive it is. Period.
