Democrats voted for Bill Clinton , the protege of segregatinoist William Fullbright. Clinton gave Fullbright the Medal of Freedom and called him a great visionary.

Democrats also nominated Al Gore. Al Gore's father was a segregationist who opposed the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and with liberal Democrat Robert Byrd , filibustered it.

It seems like if GOP becamse the white racist party, it would be nominating politicians like Gore and Clinton with ties to Old South politicians.

JImmy Carter was also from the South and had ties to segregationists.

GOP nominees for president have been politicians from California, Mass, Arizona, Connecticut, NYC, etc.

Using liberal logic, every person living in Germany today is a Nazi because Hitler was in power there decades ago.
No that’s your spin on what I’m showing you.

The large part of the white population in the South saw the Democrats after the Civil War as the defenders of the South, many were bigots. So the South was controlled by the Southern Democratic Party which even put up a Bigot Wallace to run and win many southern states in 68

That started to change after that election which Nixon won and since then the South became a Republican stronghold in which most whites voted and switched to the Republican Party.

To try to say that this switched happened overnight in every southern state and that only the whites switched party and started to vote Republican because of an influx from other areas or the economy changing is really stretching the truth.

Even in 1987 Forsyth county in Georgia had sunset laws on blacks in their county and was attacking Civil Rights March. That county as an example voted for Wallace in 68 and went completely Republican after that except for 76 with Carter

So yes the Southern Republican Party does have a problem with dealing with racial issues just as the Southern Democratic Party had prior to 1972 because it’s basically the same ethnic make up

You haven't listed any racist policies of the GOP that would have brought over white racists as a group because of white racism.

It seems more likely a racist party would nominate politicians like Clinton, Gore, and Jimmy Carter.

The reason the left does so bad in the south today is it went far left on many issues like taxes, abortion, gun rights, energy policy, etc. None of these issues are about race.

If Democrat ran on white racism in the South, they would win less votes than they get now. Republican voters are not going vote for a racist high tax pro choice anti-gun politician.

Biggest one States Rights. That has been the hanger where the southern racists have hung their coat to keep control of their states policies. Is no surprise that the Southern support for Democrats in presidential elections switched to Republicans after LBJ signed the Civil Rights Act in 1964.

Supporting state rights is not racist in general. That's a bogus leftwing argument.

It is funny you pretended not to be a Democrat on another thread but you have all the Democrat party talking points memorized.

The southern states that flipped first to the GOP were the ones with the most Republican transplants

Also, given popular support for racism was going down, it is not surprising that many Democrats left the Democratic party for the Republican party.

Your premise is like white racists did not know the Democrat part was the white racist party. LBJ had originally opposed civil rights legislation. Most of the opposition to Civil Rights was from Democrats in the south, and only 1 of the segregationist switched to the GOP.

A Democrat could not on white rascim in the south because there is not enough white racists in the party to elect him.

But look at the ones the Republicans put up for senate in Mississippi and Alabama and they had the support of white Republicans

I’m not a Democrat my friend but I have studied the History of my country and no I’m not willing to let people try to lie about its reality. When we are true to ourselves and face reality rather than try to excuse it the better we will be as a country

You haven't studied history, you are parroting leftwing propaganda.

It makes more sense to believe voters left the Democrat party to go to the GOP because the Democrat party was racist.

You have made LBJ out as some kind of white MLK even though LBJ was a racist.

You can't articulate any white racist policy pushed by GOP yet you continue to assert white racists as a group flocked to the GOP.

White Republicans who grew up in SC grew up from the 1960s to today grow up in an integrated society. Yet you are making 'The South' today as no different from the segregation era.

The truth is as the south became more industrialized, more modern, more educated, tolerant place, it flipped to the GOP. There is no racist policy in the south today.

When it was a racist uneducated place, the Democratic party owned it. FDR, the father of liberalism in this country, won 98 percent of the vote in 1932 in SC.

If white racists had flipped to GOP, then conservatives today would be fiscal liberals who view FDR as one of the greatest presidents.
