The thing is, the only time it's really illegal to lie is in court.

Libel and slander are torts - not crimes - and are difficult to prove. https://www.nolo.com/legal-encyclope...ple-29718.html

This must be the case in a society where free speech is valued. Otherwise, it would be way too easy to shut people up.

Think about it. All of us who participate in a public discussion such as this are, at least once in a while, factually wrong. Does that mean we are lying? The right to speak up isn't predicated on the idea that anyone who speaks up has to be factually correct.

The media is a business. Caveat emptor.

I believe in free speech. As long as the mainstream media issues a disclaimer before broadcast, "For entertainment purposes only" they can say whatever they want.

It really is pathetic how cons cannot understand the very simple difference between news & opinion.

Require them all to post a big disclaimer at the start and finish of each broadcast. Have it say that they practice political spins and misleading stories and people need to verify the real facts.... You wont see this happen in a million years

Honestly, I just see the media for what they are, paid for by globalist marxist fake news organizations who spew less legitimate news than smut magazines do. They carry out their orders as directed.

I don't take them seriously. I don't watch them or listen to them. There is plenty of legitimate, accurate, honest reporting out there to watch and listen to. Of course these leftist fake news media influence the gullible who do watch them, but many have wised up and are walking away.

Once the investigations into the Dems' crimes of trying to sabotage the election and treasonous acts against a President of the USA is completed, we will know which media outlets are guilty of colluding with the Dems.

Actually, it appears they should post a disclaimer for all the simpletons out there that this news hour contains reporting of news stories and also political opinion by pundits. It appears every single trump supporter is lacking that very simple distinction.

So, you're claiming to have turned your back on Breitbart, InfoWars and Fox News?

The president isn't held accountable when he lies. They report on his lies, his supporters don't like it but the rest of America appreciates it. People should learn the difference between commentators, opinion, OP-ED, and actual news. There are times when the news is breaking, therefore, the situation or story can change over time. That still doesn't make it fake news when instant gratification is at play.

How did a small group of powerful intelligence officials convince tens of millions of Americans that the president is a traitor, without a shred of evidence?

The co-conspirators... FAKE NEWS CNN & MSDNC
