To all of the people saying "I have no use for bump stocks", please realize that this is just the first step. There are also a bunch of hunters who don't think anyone should own handguns or semi-automatic rifles and are fine with just bolt action rifles.

Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out— because I was not a trade unionist.

Now if a Democrat President had done this --- there would be a run on guns at the stores and folks would be calling for a civil war.

I wish people would realize that there are tons of gun owning conservatives who have zero issue with some reasonable restrictions on gun ownership. Of course, we realize that criminals will still blah blah blah. But decreasing supply does make it harder.

All gun laws are infringements on property rights. All of them.
Yet again a reminder... the problem here isn't about a stupid piece of slidey plastic that helps yahoos waste ammo more rapidly, it's about how a POTUS wanted something illegal so he ordered a government agency to change their sensible definition of a prohibited item into a nonsensical and overly broad definition in order to include said formerly legal item.
This is not how our system of government is supposed to work, and it's gonna happen again and again across many different issues to the detriment of Americans unless it's stopped here and now.
Its always been like that. Its a falacy that we live in a fair and free society. Any one of our rights can be circumvented by popular opinion and people in government.

Yes, exactly! I think many people are saying things like this, because it is the safest, easiest and most convenient way out of having to take some kind of action. No one wants to put their lives at risk or do something that may end in their arrest or being thrown in jail, its MUCH easier to 'go along to get along'.
Whether we like it or not, ultimately we 'the people' ARE todays regulated militias...its up TO US, to step up and take action if Govt attempts something like this....the Constitution allows us to remove a govt from power...but we have to actually step up to do it.
