I wonder why the Speaker of the House wanted to waste everyone's time with this.

House Democrats on Tuesday failed to override President Trump’s first veto as part of their battle over border security, representing a victory for the administration that allows the president's declaration of a national emergency at the U.S.-Mexico border to stand.

We do know congress failed again and they always have someone to blame. Enough with the excuses why the can't do their job.
Ryan tabled the Senate deal after Trump listened to conservative outlets who called him out for not doing anything worth the wall. Ryan did this in December when he was STILL Speaker of the House. This Senate bill was then largely pushed by the Democratic House after January and it was at that point Sen. McConnell balked on the bill, he previously had as a floor vote because the President wouldn't sign it. So I can't say Congress itself failed, only the Republican leadership did. Party over country.

What I do see is that this will go to the courts and it will show us who really reads the constitution like they claim to. Kavanaugh, I'm looking at you. You claim to be a strict constructionist, tell me where in the constitution it allows a President to go around Congress, especially on the budget...

It's about Trump attempting to steal the power of the purse away from its Constitutionally proper location, in the legislature.

Previous emergency declarations by past presidents did not involve an attempt to shift billions of dollars to an expenditure not appropriated by Congress.
Bingo.

So much for conservatives loving the Constitution and the vision of the Founding Fathers....

I hope the property owners along the border pull a Bundy/Weaver on any government goons who try to confiscate their land--only with more bullets.

I agree, but I will also say this tool has been abused and abused a lot by previous presidents. Look at Obama's use of it. Of the 12 maybe 1 had anything to do with a US emergency. None were so important that they couldn't have been worked through congress.

None of the previous National Emergencies involved money being taken from other areas nor Eminent Domain to take lands from Private citizens.

This is not a good precedent for our Nation
