I am not against a government that is big enough, compassionate enough to give people a "hand-up" rather than a "hand out." Government has a necessary function.

We here constantly about government cutbacks; long lines at Motor Vehicles, congested, non-functioning courts, the list goes on. What happens to taxpayer money then? The amounts are not minor. We pay at least half our income in federal, state and local taxes. And yet when it comes to running essential government services someone is always shaking a tin cup. Whether it's the taxes to fund the "climate adjustment fund" or so-called "congestion pricing" in NYC politicians always invent a way to soak us.

And what do we get in return? The state legislature worries about single-use plastic bags, or Rights of Miscreant Thief Supersede Public Protection - The Elimination of Cash Bail. The list goes on.
