What you call communism and/or socialism (those are two different things, but I'm not surprised you don't know the difference) they call caring about the Earth and humanity. The lack of greed and selfishness and out of control materialism, and the desire to see a rising tide lift all boats, are virtues in an advanced society, BB. The attitude of, I got mine, the hell with everybody else, is the sign of a society in decay. We have to start caring about each other or we, as a country and as a planet, will go down.
LOL! That's rich.
The Boomers (Good God am I defending them?) created Earth Day and started energy conservation and recycling in earnest (caring about the Earth and humanity), popularized communes (lack of greed and selfishness and out of control materialism), and solidified Civil Rights and the Great Society (the desire to see a rising tide lift all boats).
If you bothered to read a bit of history, you would know that.
Sure, most of them grew up and became high earning Yuppies. But so will you, if you have not already.
Beats being a self-righteous moaner perpetually in search of scapegoats.

I agree those were all great things.
And yet, the boomer generation also somehow produced (and elected) Trump.
Just goes to show that generational statements mean very little.
I am a boomer and I recently withdrew from 2 courses "Intro to Film" and "Intro to Theatre" that were co-listed by the Community College. The courses were in the Workforce Development nd Continuing Education catalog. I got one of 2 seats in both classes that were designted as "non-credit" status.
I hated it. I lasted 6 weeks.
Students on cell phone all the time, late disruptive arrivals for classes, no meaningful classroom discussions; people not completing or understanding simple homework assignments; no one responding to teacher questions--I FELT LIKE I WAS IN REMEDIAL DUNCE CLASS!
Maybe it was because these courses were viewed as electives by the students (No theatre majors in class) and I viewed them more seriously as I was very interested in both topics.
There was some swearing in class, and just such lackadaisial attitude by students I was quite taken aback. I felt sorry for the teachers; who seemed very concerned about making things easy for students. One went so far as to give us printed notes so the students would not have to take notes during Powerpoint presentations!
I'm staying in my lane for now on and will stick to "Life Long Learning Classes" where millennials will not be enrolled.
Conservatives aren't wimps like your fellow big government wards of the state are. Get out of the way? Why so you can make it easier to get more handouts?
The vast majority of wealth in this country is concentrated at the top. That right there makes it more difficult for the Millennials to share in the wealth.
And boomers and the generation before them are sucking up more than their fair share of government benefits as well, but many of them want to pull up the ladder behind them and leave the younger generations in the cold, in a financial world that is stacked against them from the start.
Remember all those old Tea Partiers who walked around with signs that demanded the government "keep their socialist hands off hands off their Medicare and SS"? Or "Don't steal from my Medicare to support your socialized medicine."
Yep, they got theirs. Everyone behind them can pound sand. That's the attitude that needs to change if we are to survive as a country. Someone else in this thread said a rising tide lifts all boats. I couldn't agree more.
I think you might have misunderstood. My point is there are many types of people and personalities in a generation.
Hippie mindsets and Trump mindsets. Neither invalidates the existence of the other because boomers, like any generation, are made up of millions of individuals.

No, who "got theirs" was the WWII generation, on average eight (8) times more received in Social Security than they paid in. In contrast Baby Boomers, the first generation to pay into Social Security from the first dollar they made, will receive on average about 15-20% less than they paid in.

So, who pulled up what ladder?
Potentially some truth to this.
And as a millennial, I'll be a bit surprised if social security is even around when I'm old enough to collect on it.

Why wouldn't it be? Its demise has been going to be "the year after next" for decades. Does the program need adjustments? Yes. Most likely a gradual increase in Full Retirement Age, which already hit the Baby Boomers in the change in FRA from 65 to 67.
I'm just curious to know why you judge this generation as snowflakes, weak, lacking in maturity and why you question eveything we do, as if the world is the same place as it was 30 years ago.
Thank you.
Why do millennials complain about boomers? Learn history instead of trying to wipe it out...
Every generation has different crap to deal but millennials act as if they are the only generation to have crap to deal with.
