That was funny (I repped Brave New World for you). I know BNW wasn't being serious but, JOOC, I wonder how much time Richards even spends in the UK to even seek out any care there? He still has a residence there, but my understanding is that his primary residence is in Weston, CT and his wife Patti is an American, and their two daughters were born in New York City and are now based there. IIRC, if someone from the UK essentially lives elsewhere they can spend up to a certain fairly limited number of days each year back in the UK and not owe income tax in the UK.

It could be longer or shorter waits for elective surgery here in the USA , there in the UK or CA, or about anywhere due to local medical resource supply/demand mismatch. Socialized or private.

With more socialized systems, if the central admin doesn't create and/or support enough local HC resources, then effectively there will be local HC rationing.

In the US if we don't create and support those local HC resources we will have the same local rationing in our future.

As I have said so many times before, the future of the more socialized part of our HC systems will demand more new central money creation. There is no other way if our future seniors, poor and those with pre-existing are to be medically serviced.

My father had a heart transplant in NYC (NY Presbyterian- Columbia). My cousin who is a Doctor tells me that the NY Hospitals are not even close to being the best in the country. We do have great healthcare. It just costs $$. Just like everything else sadly, you get what you pay for. If you have good insurance and money, you will get the best care here.
Most doctors in the hospital were Indian.
If lawyers are making 500 an hour in my firm, than these doctors deserve double that in my opinion.

People want the British system they just don't want to pay for it....

Middle class taxes are 40% of your income.

The Value Added Tax (VAT) is 20% added on to purchases and services.

Welcome aboard!

One could look at the actual costs of running the NHS instead of trying to pretend that all British taxes goes there, but that would be borderline honest.

Those actual costs work out at around $3,000 per person per year on average.

45.000 Americans dies each year due to not being insured and getting the help they need because of costs.
500.000 Americans files for medical bankruptcies each year.

or they could look at their taxation level and what the British government provides for it. BTW, Britain's quarterly economic growth was confirmed at 0.2 percent in the three months to December 2018, sustainable? Nah and they know it.
