Very true, Robin Hayes was in the process of resigning as the NC GOP chairman. Here in NC, both parties tend to show up with dirt on their hands. The amount of dirt varies by who holds the reins of power. Being a former New Jersey resident for 53 years, you'd find pretty much the same situation there. Christie did himself in with "Bridgegate" and getting into too many fights with the teacher's union. For the most part, the term "honest politician" is an oxymoron!
Chis Christie has an interesting section on 'Bridgegate' in his book. There was some there there (as they say in DC), but to a large extent it was a media hoax. AFAIK there was never any evidence that Christie had anything to do with it.
Sentenced to 14 years in federal prison following for corruption including the soliciting of bribes for political appointments including the 2008 vacant U.S. Senate seat of then-President-Elect Barack Obama.
According to Chris Christie, he got 130 convictions on political corruption in his 7 (IIRC) years as US Attorney. There were convictions of both Democrats and Republicans. https://www.nytimes.com/2008/11/18/n...8christie.html

In his letter of resignation, addressed to Attorney General Michael B. Mukasey, Mr. Christie said he was gratified that he had won convictions or guilty pleas in the cases of 130 elected and appointed public officials, without losing a single case.
Numbers posted by 'bebop' are just ridiculously absurd.
"According to a new report from the University of Illinois at Chicago, the most corrupt city in the United States is Chicago.
According to the report, Chicago and Los Angeles topped the list of cities with the most public corruption convictions in America. Looking at conviction numbers between 1976 and 2017, Chicago had the most at 1,731. The Central District of California was a relatively close second, with 1,534 convictions. Manhattan had 1,327, and Miami 1,165.?

The most corrupt party in the Country pointing at the other party and crying "Corruption" is like pointing out Harvey Weinstein or Louis Farrakhan as being a close friend.
Now, are both sides innocent? Of course not...but to say only 1 prison sentence? I've posted 2 with a very short search...long after 1965......
I can only guess that his post was a case of PUI. As I said, Chris Christie alone got 130 corruption convictions, mostly (but not all) Democrats, as would be expected in New Jersey. Poster appears to have fled, perhaps sleeping it off.

Two were Democrats, and two were republicans. That alone pretty much eviscerates OP's thread title implication that one party or the other dominates in corruption. What total gormlessness!
The NC GOP is desperately clinging to power knowing that the inability of that party to broaden its support base is slowing pushing NC into the blue column.
A well-deserved fate for them, that will become a landmark change, to be followed by many other states. The future is looking good for truth and honesty to re-emerge in all levels of our government. At a higher level, the lesson we will gain from the Trump debacle, will rival what happened as a result of the Boss Tweed political crime syndicate.
It will be interesting to see what kind of spin the Trumpists will put on this

Corruption at state level is notorious. In my state we have Mecham and Symington as examples.
This prediction did not turn out so well. Thread is now to six pages, with mostly conservatives (and 1 moderate, me) posting.
There is no need to 'look the other way' when an attempted partisan attack is this far off.
