Four Republican senators say they'd vote 'no' on Cain

Four Republican senators say they'll oppose Herman Cain's Federal Reserve board candidacy, essentially sinking the former Republican presidential candidate's chances before he's even been formally nominated.

The GOP's slim majority of 53 votes means Cain's nomination is now dead on arrival, with no Democrats expected to back President Donald Trump's unconventional choice.

"If I had to vote today, I'd vote not to confirm," North Dakota Republican Sen. Kevin Cramer, a member of the Senate Banking Committee, told CNN on Thursday.

It's the President's prerogative to appoint anyone he wants.
And it's the Senate's prerogative to reject anyone they want.

Did you even read the news right above you? It would appear the Senate does not feel he is qualified.

Why would I have anything against a qualified black man?

The problem with Cain is, he's not very qualified.

Herman Cain expected to withdraw from Fed Reserve Board of Governors consideration
Quote:
Herman Cain is expected to withdraw his name from consideration for the Federal Reserve's Board of Governors, amid growing pressure from Republican senators on the White House to remove him from consideration, according to multiple sources familiar with the matter.

President Donald Trump announced last week his intention to nominate Cain, a political ally and former 2012 Republican presidential front runner. Trump has also nominated conservative economist Stephen Moore to the Federal Reserve's board of governors.

Senators Mitt Romney, R-Utah, Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, Cory Gardner, R-Colo., and Sen. Kevin Cramer, R-N.D., have come out in opposition to Cain's appointment, likely sinking his chances of confirmation by the Senate, since it's unlikely that he will get the support of Senate democrats.
