Council's measures appear to fly in the face of state law and legal precedent. The NRA says it will sue.

Mayor Nutter likened himself and City Council members yesterday to the band of rebels who formed this country as he signed five new gun-control laws that defy the state legislature and legal precedent.

Soooo, he turned Philadelphia into New Jersey...can the NRA sue here too?!

What a creep, comparing his restriction of rights to the revolution from tyranny.

Well this pertains to the "what are rights?" thread. Here is proof that some in government don't think you have rights at all but privilages that they allow you and when the law of rights doesn't suit them they ignore it and find a activist judge on their side to go along.

He likens what he is doing to the revolutionary's?What he is doing is one reason colonists held rebelion.Britian was the lawful government that tried to confiscate their weapons to stop freedom that the Brits consider them subjects, not citizens.

And again here is a black American who's history is of being oppressed and seeks to limit others from defending themselves. Why? Because it's about power and color has nothing to do with being loyal to a political party that strives to maintain and broaden more power.

But hey,if a city wants to do this go ahead lets see how peaceful the city will become.....not.Hopefully a president never decides to take matters in their own hands like this.

Look, if it made DC one of our nation's safest cities it will work in Philly too.

We in NJ have VERY strict gun laws and our cities are the safe havens EVERY urban mayor want their city to be.
