So what people are saying. For decades Bernie ranted about millionaires. Now he is one. He doesn't have to use all those tax deductions and loopholes. After all Bernie and his followers scream about the rich using loopholes. Time to put up or shut up. LOL
Uh, you say "for decades" - and in those decades a million became much less. Thanks for playing.
A buick cost $950 in 1948. At that time a Millionaire was pretty big time......
Also, a "millionaire" is not considered someone with a net worth of a million dollars. Certain proposed "millionaires taxes" apply to people MAKING MORE THAN THAT EACH YEAR!
Being a millionaire doesn't even put you into the top 10%
"estimate puts the millionaire net worth goal at the 88.24% wealth bracket in the US in 2016, or 11.76% of all households"
He is worth just around $2M. With his senator's salary and savvy investing and the recent bull market he should have been worth much more.
For that alone I would not vote for him. He has no financial ability to manage a country, based on poor personal financial management. If he did not have $880K in royalties his net worth will be pitiable.
Bernie is a millionaire by his own hard work, not his father's handouts or scamming people AND he is releasing his taxes in an act of transparency.
He is ahead of the president in accountability and credibility.
Bernie Sanders, Now a Millionaire, Pledges to Release Tax Returns by Monday
Quote:
Not being a billionaire, not having investments in Saudi Arabia, wherever he has investments, all over the world, mine will be a little bit more boring,” Mr. Sanders said.
Reminded that he is a millionaire, he did not shirk from the description.
“I wrote a best-selling book,” he declared. “If you write a best-selling book, you can be a millionaire, too.”
Nothing wrong with being rich. Trump wants us to think big and inspires with his resillience and tenacity. Bernie just wants us to accept communism and 75% taxation. He doesn't want to participate but just wants to be our ruler. He probably salivates (drools) when he dreams of how to spend our money.
Most 75 year olds don't need anywhere near a million dollars to live out their retirement. And the attack on Bernie isn't for accumulating wealth, but rather his opinion that taking other people's wealth is okay. Until he donates all of his excesses to the poor and lives like an average American I can't take his views on wealth seriously. If it is immoral to profit from a capitalist system then why is he doing so? Why does wealth suddenly become a problem at X threshold which Bernie conveniently sets higher than what he has?
Write a best seller and you too can become a millionaire.
Still--not a good look for someone running as a Socialist, advocating for all kinds of free stuff.
He's not looking too authentic.
Being a socialist is not a vow of poverty.
