I'm not sure how having $ in the bank makes Bernie a hypocrite. I will not be voting for him but a lot of people seem to have a problem understanding that a Democratic Socialist is not the same thing as going full Marxist or wanting to turn the US into some USSR/Venezuela hybrid.
And if anyone doubted a long term Congressperson was a millionaire they are an idiot. If you earn 200k per year plus social security, state pensions, had an inheritance or two, have a working spouse, and own property, you would have to be a real idiot to not be a millionaire.
For all the complaints about limousine liberals and liberal elites, there has to be some recognition that a fair number of liberals believe in career or financial success.

OMG. You're far too subtle and intellectual for this forum.
With pollyticks today, you're either for 'em or agin 'em and the opposition is regarded as subhuman.
This just came out that bernie is admitting he is a millionaire.
How did he become a millionaire, you might ask?
By BEING A CAPITALIST, of all things as he constantly derides capitalism.
He says it is by book sales.
What is more capitalist then that?
Bernie has always been a capitalist. His platform, almost identical to that of Eisenhower in 1956, promotes regulating capitalism for the benefit of all instead of the 1%.

Bernie isn't a liberal and never had a "career" other than politician. Bernie is a socialist whose "financial success" of becoming a millionaire came from selling his book that condemns capitalism as unjust and corrupt. could bernie be more hypocritical?
I used to admire him even though I disagreed with him. No longer.

He is worth just around $2M. With his senator's salary and savvy investing and the recent bull market he should have been worth much more.
For that alone I would not vote for him. He has no financial ability to manage a country, based on poor personal financial management. If he did not have $880K in royalties his net worth will be pitiable.
Well, hopefully you did the math on Trump who - by some measures - never made a dime his whole life. By others he lost 100 Billion (compared to if he invested in Buffets stock) and by normal measures (S&P) only lost 10-12 Billion.
I don't think counting fair-gotten gains is a fair tactic.
This may be hard to believe - but I ran into quite a few people who didn't buy it. I chose not to become very wealthy. One time I lose the same of a decent sized business because the buyer said "If this place is making as much as the books show, why would anyone sell it?". His loss (I wanted to "live life" more which I ended up doing".
Bernie is too old for POTUS...of course Trump is too old and insane also and not qualified even if sane.
I wouldn't have anything against a 70 yo who was sharp as a tack with a family history of longevity running but that is about my limit.
It's not up to me to care what Bernie spends his money on. We live in a Capitalist economy and every single human who does is part of the system. That doesn't mean we need to commit fraud and rip off investors and contractors, but it does mean we are all sinners in that regard.
It's a dumb metric to use. Look at the life and long terms views and actions of a person. Bernie DID march for human rights and civil rights decades ago and has been fairly consistent.
Democratic primaries so time to attack Bernie.
4 years ago he was racist and "bad" to women.
It's really sad that the democratic primary is boiling down to:
1) What is your ethnicity or at least skin color
2) What is between your legs
The other candidates will follow Hillary's lead and attempt to turn Bernie into an old klansman again.
