The medical industry is a massive fraud. Unnecessary procedures, drugs, and treatments. That's the standard, but sometimes people go too far....

Federal authorities said Tuesday they’ve broken up a $1.2 billion Medicare scam that peddled unneeded orthopedic braces to hundreds of thousands of seniors via foreign call centers.

The Justice Department announced charges against 24 people across the U.S., including doctors accused of writing bogus prescriptions for unneeded back, shoulder, wrist and knee braces. Others charged included owners of call centers, telemedicine firms and medical equipment companies.
If Medicare for All ever happens, the magnitude of these scams will be unfathomable.

So what do you want, instead? Healthcare through bankruptcy?

I must get at least 20 phone calls a week about "medicare" something or the other.
Some were about the brace. Fraud is rampant in Medicare, Medicaid and the Veterans hospitals and they Leftists want to promote more of it, while making sure that people who have good insurance with their employers LOSE that insurance.

That would certainly include any Medical Insurance negotiated by Union Representatives -
Are those Union bosses speaking out against the Democrats taking away their Insurance coverage??

NOPE .... and employees should be asking why not.

It's amazing, isn't it? They'd rather not have healthcare, it seems. Go broke and die = FREEDOM!

As long as hospitals and doctors operate for profit, the scams will continue. It doesn't matter if the insurers is a private company or government. Its unavoidable, when money is the motive.

That sounds like someone pretending to be from Medicare, so it doesn't really have anything to do with Medicare. They are trying to scam the money from YOU, not medicare.

Medicare opens the door for these scammers.

I'd prefer healthcare without govt. If you don't think it would improve the overall situation, you havent been paying attention.

Yep- I'm glad they whacked them. Patients would bring in that brace BS all the time. In the vast majority of instances, lumbar bracing does the opposite of what we want. It is useful very short term and in some post-op instances.

The "fee for service" and profit motives in medicine has led to corruption. As a physician, I think we should all be on salaries rather than in a fee for service system. Most would brand me a "socialist" or something, but I am actually a conservative. Thirty years of practice has led me to this conclusion, which is shared by many other physicians in my age group.
