When they made predictions, it was usually within your lifetime and when most of them were wrong, their predictions changed to beyond your lifetime... How is that for science... The longer the time frame, the harder the predictions but for agw believers, they can't get short term predictions right, so they make long ones so nobody will point their failures...

The first sentence in the AP article:
Quote:
A senior U.N. environmental official says entire nations could be wiped off the face of the Earth by rising sea levels if the global warming trend is not reversed by the year 2000.
And:
Quote:
The most conservative scientific estimate that the Earth’s temperature will rise 1 to 7 degrees in the next 30 years, said Brown.
It better hurry up if it's going to warm that much, June 29 is 30 years.

Then in September 2006 NBC warned:

Quote:
A leading U.S. climate researcher says the world has a 10-year window of opportunity to take decisive action on global warming and avert catastrophe. “I think we have a very brief window of opportunity to deal with climate change ... no longer than a decade, at the most,” Hansen said Wednesday at the Climate Change Research Conference in California’s state capital.
Warming expert sees 10-year window - US news - Environment | NBC News

May 2007 The Guardian wrote:

Quote:
Governments are running out of time to address climate change and to avoid the worst effects of rising temperatures, an influential UN panel warned yesterday. But there could be as little as eight years left to avoid a dangerous global average rise of 2C or more.

November 2007, the New York Times reported:

Quote:
The blunt and alarming final report of the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, released here by UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon, may well underplay the problem of climate change, many experts and even the report's authors admit. The report describes the evidence for human-induced climate change as "unequivocal." The rise in greenhouse gases in the atmosphere thus far will result in an average rise in sea levels of up to 4.6 feet, or 1.4 meters, it concluded. The IPCC chairman, Rajendra Pachauri, an engineer and economist from India, acknowledged the new trajectory. "If there's no action before 2012, that's too late," Pachauri said. "What we do in the next two to three years will determine our future. This is the defining moment."

It seems a bit odd that an "engineer and economist" would be chairman of a climate panel.

And an article from Canada's National Post on the 30th anniversary of James Hansen's June, 1988 doomsday climate testimony in the US senate.

Yeah yeah yeah...................

Another collapse in the ice sheet, runaway glaciers and rising sea levels
destroying all coastal cities to which no barrier walls can protect all
because of greedy coal emitting countries.

So we all go green, everybody is out of a job and we eventually end up eating each other.
I'd rather take my chances by keeping my economy afloat by working.
It's the better of the two evils.
Unless of course we are lucky enough to be struck by a meteorite the size of Manhattan and the world will
fall into total darkness, cool down, wiping out most of mankind once again.
Rinse and Repeat.

global warming alarmists have been predicting doom and gloom in the next ten to thirty years for longer than most any of our grandparents were born(one of my grandfathers was born in 1895). here are a couple of fun links for you;

Guess what no one is going to check global warming. anyone who says they can is a liar. consider how long the effort has been underway with zero measurable results.

not to mention how badly they would screw things up even if they could check global warming. for instance one idea that was put forth to combat global warming was to put millions of tiny mirrors int orbit around the earth to help reflect sunlight away from the earth.

yeah that would be a brilliantly stupid idea. imagine millions more tiny objects in low earth orbit that would be traveling at upwards of 25,000 miles per hour, and be small enough to not be tracked. just what we need, more objects to threaten EVERY space mission we undertake.
