When the climate becomes to unstable for food production and water in large parts of the world, those people are going to move further north, to more stable climates... So in 50-100 years much of the South American and African continent will be moving further north.. 500 million in SA and 4 BILLION Africans, living in areas that will not be able to sustain food production.
Do you wanna bet your grand children are going to deny hundreds millions of African, Middle Eastern, South Americans to move into the USA? When evidence was available for almost a 100 years that the US and their Great Grandparents KNEW they where destroying the ecosystem we thrived in...
The US population are going triple or quadruple within the next 100 years, because of climate refugees..
Europe will also be overrun with refugees fleeing an unstable and unsustainable food production situation where they live now..

Your "assessment" is similar to people describing particular characteristics of ghosts. They have gone beyond the primary hurdle (whether ghosts exist or not) and have started to parse and "explain" specific characteristics of something that does not exist in the first place.
The question is one of stopping the full brunt of climate change that will occur if we do nothing.
You suppose that those that accept the science of climate change will act like unhinged selfish, self-centered right-wing preppers who are all in it for themselves and can't wait for armageddon. Their philosophy is killed or be killed and fear of the future.
Those that think we should take proactive action on climate change want to preserve what we have, not destroy it. Burying our heads in the sand is not our way. We accept the challenge of dealing with this difficult issue.
We are not losers like preppers living day after day petrified of what the day will bring.
Taking action now is what we are about. Let the losers bury themselves in caves. We have work to do.
Its about bulk though, MUCH MUCH more average Joes and their cars, plus tractor trailers on the roads.
If vehicle emissions play any part in negatively effecting climate, you would have to focus on the majority of vehicles.
I think if it were truly THAt dire, they would be imposing strict restrictions on vehicles, and especially tractor trailers, they would limit how many can be on the road, how long they can operate, etc. It would come down to our survival, so it would have to be extreme measures taken.
The globe is about to have a good 15 to 20 year run of colder weather as the sun storms calm down. By 2030 we'll be as cold as it can get here. How will you explain how greenhouse gases affected the cold caused by the calming of the sun?
I see what you are saying, but how many people are there in the world like Leo, that sail around on HUGE yachts consuming lots of fuel...not that many...certainly not when compared to the average Joes, all driving cars and trucks, the numerous tractor trailers on the roads today, etc.
If Leo choose to park his yacht and never use it again, (and other wealthy people did similar things), that would not be that significant, in terms of changing or reversing climate change.

Ok, Dan, let's explain it as well as we can. There is no chance the roof is going to cave in tomorrow morning, or the morning after, but at some point in time, we are going to see a much different world than we live in today. Maybe not totally in your life, but if we care about our children and their children, then we need to take this seriously.

There is absolutely nothing humans can do to stop natural forces. Stop the hubris already. We will just make things worse like we always do when we try to "fix" something.
