Why make fun of truckers? They have real jobs. They make decent money without college debt.
Did you turn your sarcasm meter off? I see so many, "In low paid job get skills and education because anyone can be an astronaut" type posts. I was just being first to say it.
As luck would have it, the fleet owners will come out smelling like a rose. The W-2 drivers, not so much.
What a shock.
Apparently, some fleet owners were going to bump the per-diem up from 10 cents/mile to 16 cents/mile to offset this as the per diem income is not taxed. Wonder if that ever happened.

These people are considered self-employed—
Ergo, not employees of a company.
This article is specifically complaining about the plight of company drivers. The self-employed/ owner operators benefit from the new law.
