Whether you think offering condolences to the French people is the right thing to do or not, is up to you. Personally, I think it is important. The loss of Notre Dame is a tremendous loss. The people of the world mourn its loss. The French are not alone in their mourning.
Also a particularly bad time being Easter. Really sad.

I don’t understand why they didn’t install some means of fire retardant
If they didn’t want to use water couldn’t they have used CO2 or foam in some areas?

By the way, one of the reports I heard said the US was financing most of the renovations.

Very Sad.

However I am sure it will be restored, although it make take a few decades to complete the work.

The famous York Minster Cathedral was restored after a fire in 1984, and they used new materials and methods in order to make sure it never happens again.

Windsor Castle was also restored after a fire in 1992.

The Mackintosh Building in Glasgow is also currently being restored after a fire last year

Mackintosh building will be rebuilt, says Glasgow School of Art director - The Guardian

There are thankfully a lot of very clever and talented people in terms of such restorations.

The god news in terms of Notre Dame is the main stinework is intact and many of the rare exhibits were removed by a team during the fire.

The point of my post wasn't to assign fault, but to show how egregiously idiotic he is at everything.
